Left side looking good for the future!

I just can't help but get SO excited for the future of this team and what could potentially be the most devistating left side in a LONG LONG time! I mean Rita is still a great prospect and should/could emerge as a number one winger if he ever gets a chance. Mikhnov appears to be that big - no, not big... HUGE forward with a snipers touch. Torres.... well.... crash, bang, ***** disturber and now... scorer. I mean with a Left side of:
Mikhnov = big huge powerforward who scores LOTS of goals
Rita= Gritty, fiesty two way guy some what like Lehtinen
Torres= great both ways, tough, gritty - everything you'd want in a third liner and more.

I think this is something to be excited about!

It is something to get excited about.. the problem is that no one knows if Rita or Mikhnov will turn out at the NHL level. JR has still only played a handful of games for the Oilers and hasn't made a good enough impression to stick.. likewise, Mikhnov hasn't even set foot in North America yet! I'm optimistic as well but right only one of the three is a bonafide NHL talent, Torres..

Although I feel Mikhnov has more high-end potential than perhaps anyone in our organization not named Ales, I think he's still a bit of a long shot.

A boom or bust type guy. He might come over and light it up, or he might just stay in Russia.

Another thing about him not to like, isn't Meehan his agent????? BARF!!

while i *am* excited about this teams future.... am i the only one who is tired of thinking about "how great we will be in a few years"? i could have sworn we (oiler fans) were saying things like "man we're gonna be good in 3-4 years" 3 or 4 years ago.... now that the time is upon us we arnt any better then we were then (we're actually prolly worst).... i think that with the current team we have (including prospects), the oilers could be pretty decent in a few years.... but unless we actually KEEP some of these players, it wont help us much now will it? ..... how many more weights, guerins, cujos, carters, hamrilks, niinimas and now comries can this team take??

my basic point is that im tired of being excited for the future, we've been "excited for the future" for the past 10 years now.... when the hell does this promised future become a reality?
