Maybe they have to drink more beers cause thier a bad team and that makes it seem louder
How? Acoustics.

Sorry if you are so completely biased that you can't see the truth.

Even after we got our ***** handed to us in the playoffs the cheer was loud.

MSG has always been one of the louder arenas to play in. Especially if the team is doing well.

LOL @ MSG. The Coliseum (when the isles DON't SUCK) is pretty rockin. I was at that bates penalty shot game and the place was in an uproar, the coliseum was ROCKIN. Any isles playoff game is SUPER LOUD b/c the roof is so low. Piss off ranger fans the Garden is so quiet. I was at the rags vs sabres game when Jagr tied the record this season and the place wasn't even so loud. Phish at MSG is louder then hockey games. TRUTH.

Um, you showed a link that has every Canadian city over 90% capacity, with most of them just under 100%.

The Islanders have less of a percentage than every Canadian city (but they still have a percentage near 90% - very respectable). Whats your point?

I thought we were talking about packed houses here. When the Coliseum is packed its as loud as any stadium in the NHL. Besides maybe EDM.

Here's a better link to show the Islanders capacity.

83.4. Good for 25th in the league.

And the only time it's usually packed is when the Rangers and their fans come to town.

I've been to Nassau many times for both NYR games and non-NYR games. The place is dead silent for most of the game. Please. Blind, blind, blind homerism to call it one of the loudest arenas around.

Madison Square Garden, however, has constantly been called one of the loudest places to play.

We already went through this. And our Arena is in a swamp, and yours in the heart of Manhattan with a Scoreboard showing the 5 million people that walk by whats going on in there tonight.

I'm sorry, but you're on something if you think Nassau is louder than MSG. I'm not trying to be mean, but seriously.

Shouldnt that be 77.4% for the 41 home games?

Ah, true. I read it wrong since I looked so quick.

Even still, it's good for 25th in the league.

The Garden is very quiet man. The coliseum is loud when the isles play well. I have season tickets I KNOW. Im sure the garden was real loud when you didn't make the playoffs from 97-last season. Did you see the isles @ the coliseum in the 80's?? b/c i did and that palce was LOUD.

The Garden pretty much sold out back then and was still very, very, very loud.

I could care less about 20 years ago when we're talking about which arenas are the loudest currently.

In the 80s, the Islanders were a dynasty. Now they are a tragedy. Big difference in terms of fan attendance and arena loudness.

The team with the loudest arena and the team that sells out their games the fastest should automatically win the Cup. Or atleast get a banner for it or something, as much as people try and use it as a "haha my team is better than yours because we sold out a game in .07 seconds!!!!!!1111!!"

The RBC has been noted as being one of the loudest arena's, despite having accoustics to try and quiet down the noise. Game 7 of the SCF, people stood and cheered for the entire game. During the playoffs there were times where I couldn't even hear myself yelling because everyone was so loud. The only time that it was quiet was during Game 1 of the MTL series...and Game 2 made up for that tenfold even though we ended up losing in double OT.

That said I think the top 5 are:

- Montreal
- Edmonton
- MSG
- RBC
- Calgary

I imagine the gasp on Long Island would have been pretty loud when Garth Snow replaced Neil Smith. Anyways, my top five are in no particular order:

Edmonton
Calgary
Montreal
Buffalo
San Jose

If you want to put forth some real and rational arguments, that's fine, but all you've done to this point is rant, spout stereotypes, and use terrible grammar and spelling.

My loudest arenas list (no order):

1) Carolina
2) Edmonton
3) San Jose
4) Montreal
5) Calgary
LoL what a joke. Rexall got up to about 115db at its loudest, there is no way RBC was anywhere near 145db, notice the "citation needed" in the article, basically meaning "untrue".

Decibels are measured logarithmically so that means 145db is about....1000 times louder than Rexall at 115db. Here is a little thing I found about decibels.

140: gun muzzle blast, jet engine; Noise causes pain and even brief exposure injures unprotected ears. Maximum allowed noise with hearing protector

Wow that place must be INTENSE.

Yea a PS goal to take the lead with 2 minute left in a playoff game...any arena in the world would be "ROCKIN".

Canadian arenas are crazy!!! The yelling, just sounds different and more full. Especially Montreal and Edmonton. Keep in mind though Bell Centre has like 21,500 seats when places like Edmonton and SJ have about 17,000.

As a sharks fan though, if people all over the NHL regard the tank as top 2 or 3 loudest in the states, that's cool with me. Didn't play some big markets like NYR or PHI this season, but the tank was surely louder than any other place I watched the sharks play in the US.

It may not be steady at 145db, but I guarantee you it broke that when Staal scored with 3 seconds remaining to take Game 2 against NJ into OT. Easily.

They showed the db meter on tv during the playoffs and it hovered around 120-130 most of the time. Now you can argue the acuracy of that meter all you want, but don't think for one second Canes fans sit on the hands during a hockey game and don't yell.
