He's a restricted free agent, and was qualified.

Negotiations (if there are any..) must have gone pretty badly.

I'm sure he has an out clause and will be traded. Yawney hates him and this feels like "he's Smith's guy, not my guy" move by Tallon.

Aw man, what a rip. I saw much of his only games in the beginning of last year. He really was something.

As the Hawks retain his rights for another 3 years, I can accept this.

I hope he has a good season in Russia, and returns with the self belief/confidence he needs to succeed.

With a little bit of luck, Yawney will be gone by then, too..

Fine by me because he won't be a hit to our Salary cap this year and you never know he may have been asking for 1.5 mil a year. Too much for a guy who lost his confidence. He also was the victim of being placed on a line with Arnason who promptly cooled off Vorobievs hot start.

His problem was that he hurt his ankle and never recovered from it. You could see him limping noticably every time he got off the ice. Yawney told him he had to play thru it, next thing you know he was wearing a cast. Great diagnosis, Dr Yawney.

They gave him a little time off and he still wasnt healed. Instead of putting him on the IR and letting it get better, they sent him to Norfolk and he had to keep playing on it. Knowing the Hawks crack medical staff (ask Chelios about his newts) it was probably an undiagnosed break.

that pretty much sums it up

for the sake of his career, I pray his rights are traded and he's given a real chance with...well.....a real team

Lets not forget about Toews. We should know within a week if he is going to be given a Pro Contract or not. If he is given that contract IMO he's on the opening night roster.

People say he was not the same after his injury.

I think he had a Sampson thing going on with his unibrow and someone clipped it.

Seriously though, hopefully he regains his earlier form and returns for you.

Sharks fan here. I thought he looked good in the Chi games I saw. Hope he comes back for you guys next year, better than ever. The Hawks deserve some good luck for a change.

P.S. Thanks for sending Bell our way. Have high hopes for him on our 1st line.

Pavel Vorobiev (Chicago Blackhawks) signed a contract with Russian Super League club HC Khimik (Vosskresensk) in what is likely to be an back up option to his return to the NHL. The young forward made his first full-fledged NHL debut last year and while his season was uneven, he delivered a strong performance, especially early, in the NHL. Late in the season, when it became clear that the Blackhawks club was not making the playoffs, Vorobiev was sent down to the AHL in what was partially a money saving effort due to his two way contact and finished the season with the Norfolk Admirals. Vorobiev remains Chicago Blackhawks property.
