50 Contract Rule?

I read over on the Rangers board that each NHL club is limited to a maximum of 50 contracts. So who all do the Kings have under contract?

Add Kopitar and O'Sullivan. So 44.

Are Shay Stephenson and Eric Neilson still under contract?

47(28 forwards, 12 defensemen, 7 goalies). If Lewis is included, 48. If Hersley is signed and included, 49.

Neilson is gone. IIRC he was eligible to go back into the draft.

I think Stephenson is indeed signed, I think we're at 49.

Got to be carefull. I think some of those lower level prospects are signed to the Monachs and not the Kings. Hard to remember honestly.

So if this is indeed the case that the Kings are at 49, I guess this means either Gleason is gone or the Kings are done in the free agent market right?

Lewis won't count against the 50 contract limit if he is assigned to junior and doesn't play more than 11 NHL games this coming season.18 and 19 year old players assigned to junior and who have not played 11 NHL games in one season are exempt from counting against the 50 contract limit.Page 8 of the CBA under Reserve List

Has Gleason actually signed though? I thought he was a RFA and therefore was not under contract to the Kings?

I realize this is a longshot, but is Anze Kopitar young enough that he will be forced to be returned to junior if the Kings don't want him on the main roster? Will he end up playing for the Regina Pats or can he go to Manchester?

Also, does anyone know when this rule is finalized? Can the Kings sign more than 50 so long as they are 50 or under when the regular season starts or do they have to stay under 50 the entire time?

Him and Brown are the only RFA's the Kings have left.

Kopitar has never played in juniors, or in North America, for that matter. He's not bound by where he can play. Expect him to be in Manchester if not in LA.
