Jerry Bruckheimer guest on NHL Live 2/6

Just announced that Jerry Bruckheimer will be on NHL Live on Friday. Will be interesting to hear any specifics of "investing"/buying into a NHL franchise.

NHL Network, XM 204/Sirius 208, nhl.com

Noon-2pm ET; 9am-11am PT

He's on at the top of the show.

He's a big hockey fan. Grew up in Michigan, big Red Wings fan. Been skating 16 years since meeting Gretzky.

Talked about growth of hockey in SoCal (Southern California). Thinks college hockey needs to grow. And then there's a circle of kids inspired by NHL players, play locally, then in juniors/college, then NHL, and cycle repeats.

Unlike other sports, as kids have parents around them until about age 16 (as they have to be driven everywhere), there are few issues with drugs, etc.

Thinks more rinks are needed.

Likes that TV viewship and attendance are up, even in this economy. Shows dedicated fans.

Has a Sunday night (pickup?) game and a lot of Hollywood folks participate. (Currently on IR with undisclosed injury.)

He's developing future hockey-themed movie, "very inspirational".

"We'd love to be involved in the sport" of hockey. He sees a lot of possibilities for TV production and more, but feels you need to be "part of the inner circle" to implement those changes.

"Someday" he'd like to be an owner.

Do you have any news about New Las Vegas Arena (20,000-seat multi-purpose arena in Las Vegas. It had a planned opening date in 2010)?

Hasn't broken ground yet. Still having problems getting city approvals IIRC.
