Top 6 Forwards : Bruins Vs. Canadiens

What team have the best top 6 forwards between those two big northern-east division rivals : Montreal Canadiens or Boston Bruins ?

Montreal Canadiens
Saku Koivu
The Captain, great leader. Amazing vision, pretty good playmaker, injury prone, can go into little slump sometimes. #1 center.

Alex Kovalev
One of the best puckhandler in the whole league, good scorer, can take some nights off sometime, not soft but not a big hitter neither. 1st line winger.

Sergei Samsonov
Offensive bomb, very very quick on his skates, a bit soft, injury prone. 1st line winger.

Chris Higgins
Good, young, 2way winger. Good sniper, lack of experience. 2nd line winger.

Mike Ribeiro
A very good playmaker with a lot of talent and creativity, set up big play, known for his actor talent, soft. 2nd line center.

Michael Ryder
True sniper, score big goals but not very good without the puck or in his own zone. Former offensive rookie of the year. 2nd line winger.

Boston Bruins
Marco Sturm
One of the most fastest skater on the league, can play on the PK, good scorer, dont hit much. 1st line winger.

Marc Savard
Pretty good playmaker, can put 20-25 goals, a bit dirty and selfishness. 2nd line centre.

Glen Murray
A true sniper with good size but also with a lack of everything else, need a good playmaker to score goals. 1st line winger.

Patrice Bergeron
A young offensive bomb with a lot of creativity, very smart center, a lack of experience and size. 1st line center.

Brad Boyes
Pretty good offensive player, nothing much to say here, a pretty good scorer. 2nd line winger.

PJ Axelsson
Habs-killer, very underrated. Good on the two side of the ice, good skater. 2nd line winger.

Discuss.

As much as I think Bergeron is the hammer, I'll have to go with the Habs top 6 overall. Murray has never impressed me and there is the possibility that Savard will be subtraction by addition.

This really isn't too much of a match. I don't do this < > ****, so I'll say Boston by a nice margin. Now and future.

Yeah, Kessel will be the #6. I will admit the Habs easily have better top-9, but I think we have the edge in top-6 forwards.

Oh BTW, I don't think Bergeron lacks size at 6-1 195lbs. He's about average.

We don't even know who our 2nd line LWer is so how can this thread even exist?

Maybe redo this...around the end of September?

Bruins regular poster and season ticket holder- just want to say you did a nice job giving kudos to both teams. I'll take Boston's but if I was a Canadiens fan I could make an argument that way. I love Higgins, Sammy has always been my favorite- and huge Koivu fan; Kovalev when he is on is world class. Prime rib or lobster- when you like them both is how I look at it.

I will re-make this thread at end of september too.. just want to have people opinion right now, w/ Axelsson becuz im not really sale on Kessel playing in NHL this year..

IMO :
Bergeron > Koivu, now and future
Kovalev > Sturm, now and future
Samsonov > Murray, now and future
Savard > Ribeiro, now and future
Higgins = Boyes, I will probably get flamed but this is my opinion
Ryder = Axelsson now, but Ryder > Axelsson in the future.

So its pretty close imo

Id say its more like this:

Bergeron > Koivu (No explanation needed.)
Savard > Ribiero (undersized, Savard is the better playmaker, scorer and player.)
Murray < Kovalev (Both have lazy tag, Kovalev is more skilled an will get more points)
Sturm > Samsonov (2nd line wingers. Will put up similar numbers.Sturm will score more, can play pk)
Boyes > Ryder (Both offensive players,Ryder may score more goals but Boyes is better all around)
Higgins > Axellson (two-way players.Axellson is better defesively.Higgins has the ability to be more)

I think Boston fans would know whether or not Sturm is better than Samsonov, I'd take their word for it.

their guy its called bias you know, but maybe you like to see some homer coming out of this!!

Even if samsonov was over rated your arguement just shows how sturm is getting all over rated again just like samsonov did!!

Samsonov was THEIR guy a very short while ago, I doubt they would totally forget what he did for their team. I would think most Bruins fans would be not biased on these two players. Habs fans like you would be the biased ones considering none of you have seen an high amount of Samsonov. Bruins fans have seen alot of both, I'd sure as hell trust a Bruins fan who has seen both alot rather then a Habs fan.

I sure would expect a Sens fan to understand this is simply not the case... Think of Chara signing with the Leafs, then think about how Sens fans would comment on the guy.

Now, put this into this perspective: Habs-Bruins is Leafs-Sens rivalry x10.
______________________________

I could also point out (which i wont), 2 threads on the Bruins board.
Thread no.1 Samsonov been trade to the Oilers
Thread no.2 Samsonov signing with the habs.

What you are expecting (Bruins fans not biased) is simply a completely wrong starting point... (would be the same the other way with Habs fans)

Well, I wouldn't.....

Lets say they're equal. After that, you got :

Ribeiro, Higgins and Ryder

vs

Murray, Savard and Axelsson

I would take the Habs alternative without thinking twice

IMO, Habs top six is superior

From a Leaf fans, definetly the Bruins. I personally feel Koivu is severely overrated and it's hard to pass on Murray, Boyes, Bergeron and Savard.
