What's the deal with him? Could losing the C really have drained his motivation or is he just being his typical inconsistent self?
He's loafing like never before. I've never seen him look that terrible on the ice before in all the years that he's been here. He just didn't care, and he made terrible plays (especially that one, doh!). Tim Connolly would have been proud with that work ethic. It made even him look good. I know the guy can't always score and be dangerous. But do something out there. He didn't skate hard. He didn't attempt to hit (sure it's not his game, but he could act like he's out there). He didn't play good defense (like he normally does). Hell, Boulton had a better chance of scoring out there. He actually made a couple nice passes and played with a little passion.
I'm not going to get all down on him though. Hopefully he will rebound and be the dangerous player that he is always is. I'd love to start praising him again.
I am not, however, opposed to Ruff scratching his 5 million dollar @ss Friday.
Nice game for Max and Delmore! I listened to RJ's call over the net and heard Miro's name maybe twice...and once was the give-away that led to the second Jersey goal. What's the deal with him? Could losing the C really have drained his motivation or is he just being his typical inconsistent self?
It'll be interesting to see if Miro responds to the 11 minute benching he got after he had the give-away and then the loafing backcheck on the shortie against.

I bet he is pissed about not being captain anymore...
He looked fantastic. New Jersey had a lot of shots, and Marty had to be good.

Alot of things. One of which was "Buffalo wouldn't have this many fans" (paraphrasing), in response to Danny Gare asking Don what he thought about the Rochester crowd.

Same crowd: Moving the game from 18,690-seat HSBC Arena to the War Memorial really didn’t mean the crowd was any smaller than it would have been in Buffalo.
When the Devils came to Buffalo on Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, just 12,633 fans showed up at HSBC.
“I know why they have this game in Rochester: because they’ll draw more fans than they would in Buffalo,” Cherry said.
If last season is any indication, the War Memorial crowd was equivalent to what the Devils may have drawn, too.
When Buffalo played in East Rutherford, N.J., last year on Tuesday, Nov. 19, there were 11,841 fans at Continental Airlines Arena. There were just 10,598 fans at the Tuesday, Feb. 4, game in New Jersey.

Late in the game, they had Kotalik on the wing instead of Boulton and he was laying the body too. That line, the Botterill-Taylor-Dumont trio and Pyatt-Drury all were pretty good. But Satan-Brown and Briere on the RW with Pyatt-Drury were all subpar to downright bad. I'm certainly in favor of plugging Hecht in and booting Boulton right to the pressbox.

It will be interesting to see where Ruff plugs Jochen. Ya gotta think it will be on the 2nd line, bumping Kotalik to the 3rd and Botterill to the 4th. It'd be sweet if we could get a 4th or 5th for Boulton.
GAME: New Jersey Devils (7-3-3-0) at Buffalo Sabres (7-7-1-0).
The contest, played at intimate Blue Cross Arena, will be the first-ever NHL tilt in Rochester, which is the home of the Sabres' AHL affiliate, the Americans. The last time one of the four major professional sports leagues held a contest within the city limits was on Feb. 5, 1960, when the NBA's Syracuse Nationals and Philadelphia Warriors played at the War Memorial. The War Memorial was later refurbished into the building the clubs will play in this evening.

The Amerks are lamenting not having a policeman right now....
He aggreviated his thumb injury, there was the mention of surgery and if he goes under the knife he'd be out for several months. He's got it in a cast, but no surgery so far.
I got a chance to see the game yesterday, they played it on a local rochester station. I was pulling out my hair watching Satan pass the puck, he looked totally uninspired. I though Kotalik was especially good in the third, throwing his body around well. I think if anyone has to move down a line when Hecht gets back it should be Brown/Satan.
p.s. A buddy of mine went to the game and said that when Buffalo scored their second goal you could hear a pin drop in the place.
Jorde's only played 3 games this year and I don't think any have been over the last couple weeks. I'd been wondering if he was hurt but I haven't seen that mentioned anywhere.
