ohlund or regehr?

after seeing somebody post a "regehr or staios" thread, i decided that regehr should be matched up against a defensemen closer to his level.
i've seen both of them play quite a bit, but in the spirit of homerism, i would choose ohlund.
seriously though, the reason i would choose ohlund would be because i think he's slightly better all-around. they're both elite defensemen, and in the list of top d-men in the league, they're only a few spots apart in my mind.

I'd take Regehr for the Islanders but I'll argue that Ohlund is a better defenseman because he is more well rounded. The Isles need a true "defensive" defenseman and the difference between the two guys overall is neglible so I think that they'd take Regehr.

Very close but i choose Regehr now. Ohlund has been elite longer but Regehr is hitting his stride now.

Regehr

and what about Ohglunds game makes his game so much more well rounded? Regehr isnt getting the credit he deserves for his offensive game coming around... he put up 26 points (only 7 less than Ohlund) while missing all of October... not to mention Regehr is better defensively and more physical... and he is more physical while taking less penalties... in 03-04 they took about the same number of penalties but last season Ohlund jumped up to over 90min in penalties from being in the mid-low 70s... while Regehr's would have been about even with the previous season if he hadnt missed a month... to me it says Regehr has adapted better to the new rules and with a very minor differenc ein offensive production i'd easily take the more physical player who takes less penalties

Regehr. Defensive and aggressive advantage outweigh Ohlund's offensive advantage.

That's a tough one for me.

I'm a die-hard Flames fan, but I'd go with Ohlund for now. His game is more polished right now due to the offensive ability he has. That being said, Regehr showed signs of taking his offensive game to the next level last year.

It's a close one...and Regehr could very well prove me wrong this year. But i'll take Ohlund for now.

Two great d-men.

I'd take Regehr. He's meaner, younger, and cheaper. He doesn't have as much pure ability as Ohlund, but I think he can make up for that with intimidation.

A defense pairing of Ohlund - Regehr would look good.

What Regehyr lacks in the offensive department in comparison to Ohlund, he makes up defensively.

It's hard to say Ohlund when Regehr's my 2nd favourite player, and he's pretty comparible, but yes Ohlund is better.

Ohlund is a more complete package but doesn't have gamebreaking ability. When Regehr gets mean and starts to hit people - HARD - he can change a game. Reg is better defensively as well.
