Someone get the clips of Kyle McLaren blowing away Petr Cajanek and Trevor Letowski.

Just like a lot of the big hitters, McLaren can get carried away, but when he hits someone, he can absolutely destroy them.

Yup, and Hemsky gets nailed at least once a game just because he tries a little too much sometimes. He always jumps right back up though haha.

unpopular choice but tucker thorws his little body around with no regards.

another guy is tootoo, both these little guys can lay out some heavy hits.

now I wait for the cheapshot related comebacks.

I was really wondering if anyone would mention him, because he is top 5 material.

I'm pretty sure it was Kotalik Regehr nailed into the players bench. Warrener's hit on fedoryk was crazy.Worthy of any top 5.

Regehr is the beast on the boards
Gauthier
Vish
Smith
Phaneuf

4. Garnett Exelby - Big hit on Sundin this past year.
5. Doug Murray - Didn't play a ton, but hits any chance he gets, and hard.

What can I say? I like defensemen who aren't afraid to throw their body around.
Vish doesn't look for it too much. He knows when there will be an opportunity and he capataizes

Fixed.

But if you're going with that stat you'll have to look at games played. Chara, Orpik and Kasparaitis would probably have been top 3 if they had played all games.

Brown loves to get the forearm into the other guy's shoulder to get their center of gravity tilting. Especially since he's not as tall as the bigger guys in the NHL, it really looks like he's aiming upward with his forearm/elbow. He's not really a dirty player by intent, but when guys don't keep their heads up (Lang, Reasoner) he'll easily wind up giving them one on the chin. He also gets a bit too enthusiastic in near-boarding situations. It can be dangerous.

He's young, so hopefully he'll realize that you maybe shouldn't hit everything all the time. I could see him getting some penalty calls and earning a rep as a dirty player if he doesn't show a little better judgment. Not that it isn't fun to watch him...

Mclaren might not be top 5, but he had my favorite hit of the year when he destroyed Letowski.

I vote for Carlo Colaiacovo, because he exclusively throws big hits. No little ones. He saves up all week and then just unloads on guys. Except for that one, where he unloaded on the boards and KO'd himself.

Carlo vs. Guerin
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2X128ULuQEc

Carlo vs. Bertuzzi
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yQy_WZkr7M

Carlo vs. Comrie
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZqOaVYuAjA

For a while it seemed like he was a vigilante, and only layed out guys that everyone hates...

But then he smoked innocent little Marek Svatos.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFbqmMw7w8A

Perhaps overwhelmed by remorse over the Svatos hit, Carlo then turned his destructive powers against himself:

But he will return, ********** of the league beware!

I am at fault for not reading all the posts before replying. I am doing it again here.

If so then there should be another thread.
