Let me chime in too, HFF ... good stuff!

I really enjoy reading thoughtful analysis like this. My only beef is that you aren't publishing more sooner.

I cant see Nash getting 90 points. Maybe 45 goals and 30 assists for 75 points in that range. We'll see though.

Notes:

Excellent work, HFF/jt. A few comments, though:

*Atlantaís depth has suffered considerably. Amazing what a difference Marc Savard made. Do they shift Kozlov back to centre (he has played the position before) if they canít find a centre to keep Kovo happy?
*Iginla might finally crack the 100-point barrier this year. Heís never had a playmaker on his line like Tanguay. Not only that, but Tanguayís goal-scoring abilities are top-notch, too. As long as they donít get too cute, no reason Iginla canít hit 100. Tanguay, if he stays healthy, might challenge 100, too.
*I wouldnít be surprised if Kobasew challenges 25 goals this season, but I donít think his assist total will ever come close to his goal total. 53 points? Highly unlikely, unless he breaks through for 35-40 goals.
*Player to watch in Calgary this year: Jeff Friesen. This yearís Anson Carter.
*If Erik Cole plays a full season with Eric Staal, heíll have the best offensive season for an American-born forward this decade.
*Joe Sakic was the league MVP for the final quarter of the season. But he and Hejduk could be a two-man show in Colorado this year. But Sakic had 22 points in 10 games without Tanguay last year. Call it a hunch: Burnaby Joe racks up another 90-point season.
*Iím fully confident that the posturing will end and Nikolai Zheredev will play in the NHL this year. 81 points? Not without some consistency. Zheredev has great skills, but he has lots to learn about being a great NHL player. My feeling is heís an Alexei Kovalev type, and will need at least five seasons before reaching his upside. Heís entering his third season now.
*Gaborik-DeMitra might be one of the most dynamic combos in the league this year. Theyíre another duo that could combine for 200 points. DeMitra should be good for 20 goals and 55 points before his first serious injury on New Yearís Day.
*Mark Bell on a first line? How long will that last. Heíll be back to his normal, inconsistent self before Remembrance Day. Maybe this is the year when he finally wakes up and becomes that offensive power winger some expected him to be. (A couple scouts compared him to Bobby Smith). Or maybe heíll just continue to be Mark Bell. Bet on the latter.
*As a Canuck fan, I do have some concerns that the Sedins have topped out. I donít know if either will ever eclipse 80 points. Not that it matters, though. Theyíll still be reliable two-way forces. Donít rule out a 45-goal and 95-point season from Naslund.

In a word, no. This Metropolit I have heard is a fantastic playmaker and a good skater, and could really mesh well with Kovalchuk. Kozlov is eons more effective at LW, and I think Rucchin/Kapanen/Sater/other will centre him and Hossa depending on who fits better.

I agree with you here, I can definitely see both players hitting 90-100. I based my predictions on the fact that Calgary is a defensive club and I want to see if Playfair plans on opening it up for the skilled forwards like Huselius and Tanguay. My predictions for these two are probably conservative, but I also accounted for an increase in secondary scoring because I see guys like Lundmark/Kobasew stepping up their games.

good call here, I am going to adjust that. I originally had those point totals made assuming Kobasew might play LW with Iginla, but then I decided on a diferent line-up.

Very well could. I don't see Cole having a super-high ceiling, and I see don't see Staal hitting the next level of 110-120 points for a few years, he really slowed down last year during the stretch run.

Zherdev is one player that I think could even have a bigger year. He has some solid veteran leadership for the first full-season, and very well could hit 85 points too. One of the players I expect to have a break-out of sorts.

Minnesota has another very good line that has proven NHL chemsitry in PMB-White-Rolston. I want to see Demitra stay healthy and it also depends on who the third member of that line is, I put Parrish there but I suspect someone else may suit up along side those two. Gaborik has 100 point skill, but I can't see him getting that on the Wild, at least not for a few years.

Thanks for the feedback!
