For people in the Montreal area ...

Being a Canadiens fan in Southern Ontario is great. With an abundance of us (and fans of other teams) it provides a unique rivalry with the local Maple Leaf supporters.

Much has been said of all the legions of Toronto fans who make the pilgrimage to Montreal when their beloved Leafs are in town.

While I don't doubt there are Leaf fans in the city of Montreal (likely those that remember the Original Six era).

Who is the most popular team in Montreal AFTER the Canadiens? Toronto? Boston? Pittsburgh? Detroit? Colorado? If possible, give a reason. Thanks!

Boston by Far. Then Avs (Nordiques) and then maybe the leafs. But the Bruins are verry popular.

I'd say Colorado because they used to be the Nordiques.

The Penguins I've found have an abnormally large following, mostly because of Lemieux no doubt.

I've never seen anyone like Chicago. I see a lot of Detroit, though.

My dad was a Hawks fan growing up..

After seeing all those scrapbooks, I can say they're probably my 2nd favourite team now..

Habs
Nords
Hawks
Flames

it's boston, there's no doubt there. toronto fans are not permanent residents... mostly just the students at our universities. i'm in agreement with the rest here.. avs and pens are pretty high up there.

I think Boston is by far the most popular team after the Habs.. I remember past series agains the Bruins, in every bar we went there was at least one 50yo pure laine québecois hardcore Bruins fan. Even a 45yo guy at my job who's a proud fench from Marseille.. dosen't follow hockey too much is a genuwine Bruins fan. He exlained me it was about the Bostom supremacy of his youth... dunno..

I would say Colorado and then all the Canadien teams except Toronto, so Ottawa, Calgary, Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton.

There's a lot of Boston fans. Colorado and Pittsburg is up there too, and on a lesser extent there's the sens fans.

Its probably a toss up between the Avalanche (old nordiques fans) and the Bruins (from the Raymond Bourque era).

A ton of Bruins fans. It sickens me. Even my dad is a closet Bruins fan because of Bobby Orr. Every time the Bruins play at the Bell Centre the fans are at least 25% Bruins fans, and they're not tourists either.

I also see alot of French Canadian Ottawa fans. Don't know why, maybe they are from Hull or something. My friend's fiance is hardcore estie ********ie chain smoking beer drinking stereotype and is best buddies with Mike Ribeiro and Ribeiro's family, and he HATES the Habs and is a hardcore Ottawa fan. I don't know if he's from Hull though, it's possible.

It's hilarious though, because my friend is a hardcore Habs fan and most of their marital problems stem from the hate they have for their respective teams. My friend's car is pretty famous in Montreal, it's the blue Subaru WRX with the huge Canadiens logo on the back and her Fiance loves driving it, although he says it sickens him to have that giant logo on the back.
