Those r pretty impressive numbers. Mind u he was playing for the Sens who had a awsome regular season so his numbers are a bit inflated. I wonder what the price tag is. Im guessing it wont be for much. Maybe around a mil????? Could be a steal if he stays healthy.
I don't really see what other choice the Wings had. Hasek was an awful lot better than Belfour was last year. Hasek on a cheap tide-them-over deal is probably as good as anything. What other choices are out there? Give up tons in a trade for Nabokov or Giguere... only to have those guys flop/continue to flop? At huge cap hits? Play Liv or Howard behind Osgood?
I don't really see how this can fail for the Wings. Worst case, Hasek continues to struggle with his health and part way through the season they have to make the trade for another goalie, but with better optics on what they're trading for and with a reduced cap hit. Best case, Hasek plays at the level he did last year, for peanuts, and maybe with a reduced workload stays relatively healthy. It can't really go wrong for the Wings, given their situation.
You guys are stuck with Aebischer. When Florida and Detroit prefers to signed Belfour and Hasek instead of trying to get Aebischer then the market value for Aebischer is not very good. Aebischer is not a #1 goaltender in the NHL and with his salary he will be hard trade. Good luck with that.

I can think of worse situations than Aebisher and Huet in net.
Of course, most fans would prefer to trade Aebischer because Danis is ready for a backup job and Halak is pushing in hamilton but...

I always considered him a salary/position dump from Colorado. If we can get him out of the way to make space for other, younger, cheaper backups I'd be happy, whatever we get in exchange.
