Boo Hasek?

December 12 Detroit plays Ottawa. I am sure Hasek will be in goal if he isn't nursing his groin by then. How will you react?

Perhaps the whole crowd can fake a groin injury when they announce his name.

I think Hasek is a great athlete, with much success - I do believe he wanted to help Ottawa as much as possible, which I give him credit for.

However, I think the whole injury ordeal was misleading and unfair to the fans. The guy kept us in suspense (and the team) for the remainder of the season, and from what I've read he wasn't too eager to share his status with management - often using overseas doctors and not informing the team.

For this, I do not respect him. He handled the situation poorly and it's not the first time it's happened.

I won't boo him, but I won't cheer for him either.

Hasek played great here, then he got hurt. He didn't "quit." Of course he wanted to play -- most of his potential earnings were in playoff bonuses that he never collected because he couldn't play. He wanted to come back next year, but the Senators didn't offer him a contract. Why on Earth would you boo a guy like that? I didn't want him to play in the Olympics, and I sure don't want to take a chance on his brittle body again, but I don't hold last year against him.

Hasek didn't quit the sens. He publicly stated that the only team he wanted to play for was Ottawa. Muckler didn't want him back, so he had no choice. He wants to raise his family in Ottawa and Buffalo, Toronto, and Montreal are all chalk full of goalies.
He deserves a standing ovation, he played his *** off for the sens and left on Muckler's terms, not his own. Chara should be booed before Hasek is. (not to say either one should be)

I for one will not be booing the greatest goalie of our time and future Hall of Famer. As a poster above said, he would have made all of his bonusses in the playoffs and that fact that he uses his own doctors is that he trusts them the most. A hockey player's body is his livelyhood and he has to take the utmost care of it.

He was hurt and didn't feel he could play 100%. Would you have felt better if he would have played and done lousy? How would he have been remembered then from Ottawa fans? Players get hurt, it's a fact of the game and some unfortunately get hurt and inopportune times as Hasek did. He was a great goalie and was great for us up until the Olympic break. I would have been fine if he returned to Ottawa because I think he still is as good as most goalies in the NHl even at his age. The groin problem will always be a risk for Hasek but our concern will probably be with Emery as a backup and whether he can carry this team as Ward did should anything happen to Gerber.

Seeing him make some of those saves of his in a Sens jersey is a memory I'll always treasure.

No booing from me.

It's not like it was his fault that he got hurt in the Olympics. Or am I missing something here?

HOW do you know his groin was "FINE" ?????

I have not seen any medical report on him... maybe you can share?

Anyhows, he was awesome before injured. To bad a personality clash between him and the coach, and bad handling of the press by both him and the management poisoned his posibility of return this year.

He is a STEAL at that salary level. I really do wish him well in Detroit and considering Detroit did so well last year, with him in nets i think they will go further in the playoffs. However going up against Vancouver with Luongo in nets will be hard for many western teams.

Funny how personality clashes and press issues seem to follow him wherever he goes. Be thankful he is gone. My crystal ball says he doesn't get past game 5 without blowing a nut!

I see no reason to boo him in any way
Even though he was a distraction he did offer to return at a discount rate and we can only speculate if last years injury was not legit
Booing hasek to me is irrational by any mature intelligent person

The only person who left a team this year that deserves to be boo'd is Pronger by edmonton fans..Leave Chara and Hasek alone

I won't be booing him, I see no reason too. And at the end of the season, he mentioned he wanted to come back to Ottawa because his goal was to win a cup with this team.

I don't see the point on booing on Hasek or Chara, which seems to be a great fun for someone. They were free agents and are playing in the team that gave them the best offer. Both of them tried their best for the team last year (claiming that a veteran like Hasek would fake an injury is really funny) and did no Yashin-like moves or anything, so what is the point? If you are still upset about last year's performance, shouldn't you be booing to Senators team as a whole?

Won't boo him.

The guy will end up in the HOF and is a quality goaltender. To be 41 and still be elite, is an impecable run.
