Name: I chose "Condor" back in the late 80s as my call sign in PC flight sims (where it didn't matter what you chose because no one saw it except you). Since I don't like change, I kept it up through the first few years of the internet. When I noticed how common the name was in online communities, I stuck with the bird-of-prey theme and changed to the slightly more unique, "Osprey." It's lame, too, but I've used it and only it for 10 years, so I'm not about to change.

Avatar: I love history and classical art, so my avatar is one of my favorite paintings, "The Death of Socrates" by Jacques-Louis David, 1787. My previous avatar was one of my favorite paintings, as well. I'm not into avatars and I wouldn't want something as my avatar that I wouldn't mind also having on my wall at home, so that's part of it. It also helps me convey, I hope, that I'm intelligent enough for my posts to be taken seriously (since, in the beginning, it took a while for me to get over Spongebob's and Ziggy Stardust's avatars and understand that they were intelligent posters in spite of them). Really, though, I don't think much about it anymore, since I turned avatars off almost 6 months ago. The pages load a bit faster now and are much cleaner.

Comment: The title of the painting. I might as well give people a clue to learn more if they happen to like the painting.

Hey, that's quality art. I especially love the bulldog slipping himself an ace with his back paw.
