"The Admirals new logo is actually and aged version of the teamís logo from the late 1970ís, a short young lad, who was lost in the waters of Lake Michigan back after the 1981 season and was recently found. The only thing that managed to keep him alive all these years was his fighting spirit. In fact, after one of his legs fell off, he used it as a hockey stick to hone his skills.

After over 25 years of being underwater, the red white and blue uniform had faded to the black, silver, and ice blue, and had turned his fresh young face into a skull. Despite all of his changes, his fighting spirit never wavered and that relentless spirit and tireless work ethic have given us our new battle cry: Never Say Die!"

I cant decide if that is cool, funny, or sad. Im confused.

The old logo was awesome. This one is....well... I dont know.

I didn't even want to log into any of the forums that I visit on a now daily basis because of this. New Admirals ownership has been spinning the new logo and colors since shortly after the purchase a year and a half ago. More "family friendly" they said, the scheme of "Lake Michigan Blue", silver, and black were rumored for some time, like pro sports needed another black jersey.

The story is rediculous, the logo is certainly more kid or family friendly, and the new slogan "Never Say Die" is now represented by an undead character wearing an admiral's hat that is the color of death.

The old logo - more professional, not a bush league look at all. This logo? Will the Preds want to remain affiliated? Ask Zanon or O'Reilly during camp if they want to be sent to Milwaukee and wear these new digs.

I thought Aprils Fools Day only happened on April 1st....

To be honest, it looks like a design used to win a bilboard or coloring contest.

Holy cow, I hope for the sake of our friends in Milwaukee that this is some cruel hoax...

My first thought when I saw the logo was that someone was playing around with a dot-matrix printer and printed out and then scanned that logo. It is by far the ugliest logo I have ever seen and I have no idea why the Admirals would have been changing their logo anyways because I always thought it was sharp and professional looking.

I have absolutely nothing positive to say about this logo and hope for the sake of everyone that they change back before they take the ice.

WOW...talk about a marketing nightmare...heads will eventually roll on this one.

Then you have missed the best part. Their jerseys will be white and grey. From all pictures I've seen the grey is really light and imo, too close to white to serve as a contrast on the road.

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel... (http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=479333)

A look at one of the former Admiral players Yves "something" modeling the home version of the new jersey.

Doesn't look that bad on the jersey, but...I just don't think it says...Milwaukee Admirals to me.

Interesting to read...
The team's new colors will be black, ice blue and silver, replacing the old red, white and blue. "We wanted to do something that would be really popular with the younger crowd," Locher said. "We wanted to avoid the idea of a trendy logo, yet we wanted to tie it in to the heritage of the team to have it make more sense."

You're right...you avoided the trendy logo look and went with the one that is hard to read and looks like $@##.

More motivation for the younger players to step up their game while with the big team or risk having to play in that hideous logo.

Who designed that logo, Cartoon Network?

it reminds me of "the nightmare before xmas"

what exactly do pirates have to do with admirals, anyway?

they're more kid-fun\friendly, i guess. talk about selling out.

An online readers poll on the Journal Sentinel website poses the following question today:

"Do you like the Admirals new logo?"

As of 11:15 AM CST, with 837 votes cast...
YES - 26.9%
NO - 73.1%

Keeping with the "Admirals" theme...I'll change my prediction that heads will roll with this decision and say rather that at the same time next summer...the whole marketing staff will walk the plank.

Isn't it amazing what a young marketing company can come do with enough alcohol and a DVD of Pirates of the Caribbean?
