I think, assuming they can keep it up, keeping the shot total and the GA down will make a substantial differnce over the course of the season. Looks to me like we've made some baby steps.

take last night for example, we get 30 shots or so, but maybe 5-10 of those had a chance of going in
Bulis had 4-5 shots that anyone of us here could've shot better, i mean put some effort into your shots, you're not gonna score with a little wrister thats going about 2 miles an hour on the ice from 50 feet away

most of Bulis's shots were like this last night
It's not a question of effort put into the shots IMO. More a question of confidence. When the forwards lack confidence and they get close to the net, they take a safe shot, just trying to at least hit the net, resulting in a centered shot easily stopable for any well positioned goalie that receives it in the chest area. When the confidence will be back up again, they'll start aiming for the corners again, and therefore the shots will start to go in more. But right now, they seem to play just not to lose.
yeah i've noticed they keep hitting the goalie dead-center, especially Zednik, he had one good chance early in the game yesterday and the shot was directly in goalie's chest, no wonder he doesn't have many goals this year
i hope your right with more confidence they'll score more goals and shoot better, but don't forget, this is the Habs, so unpredictable

What was our record at this point last year??? I would have thought we have had more now than this time last year.
