15 Games - Stats and Progress Report

We're about 1/5th of the way through the season. I'll supply the stats, you supply the commentary/report:

(2002/03 is first, followed by 2003/04)

GP W L T OTL PTS GF GA SF SA SO
15 _ 6 5 4 0 _ 16 __41 45_ 349 503 1
15 _ 7 8 0 0 _ 14 __30 33_ 397 368 4

Shots against are down by an average of 9 per game , from 33.5 to 24.5 or 40% less shots per game compared to last year.

While our Shots For is up, Goals For is down by 27%, per game avg. Shooting percentage (goals per shots) is at 7.6% vs. 11.7% at this time last year.

Save percentages are both around 0.910.

C'mon guys, I put a little work into this. Or are you still mad about my glowing praise for Dagenais? :p I'll take it back.

We have less points than last year and I thought we sucked last year. That's all that matters to me. The shots totals don't say much as they don't tell their quality.

I think, assuming they can keep it up, keeping the shot total and the GA down will make a substantial differnce over the course of the season. Looks to me like we've made some baby steps.

yeah the shot quality means more than shot totals
take last night for example, we get 30 shots or so, but maybe 5-10 of those had a chance of going in

Bulis had 4-5 shots that anyone of us here could've shot better, i mean put some effort into your shots, you're not gonna score with a little wrister thats going about 2 miles an hour on the ice from 50 feet away

most of Bulis's shots were like this last night

It's not a question of effort put into the shots IMO. More a question of confidence. When the forwards lack confidence and they get close to the net, they take a safe shot, just trying to at least hit the net, resulting in a centered shot easily stopable for any well positioned goalie that receives it in the chest area. When the confidence will be back up again, they'll start aiming for the corners again, and therefore the shots will start to go in more. But right now, they seem to play just not to lose.

yeah i've noticed they keep hitting the goalie dead-center, especially Zednik, he had one good chance early in the game yesterday and the shot was directly in goalie's chest, no wonder he doesn't have many goals this year

i hope your right with more confidence they'll score more goals and shoot better, but don't forget, this is the Habs, so unpredictable

What was our record at this point last year??? I would have thought we have had more now than this time last year.
