Trade Proposal: Kloucek & a #2 for Morozov

Seems to me that it works for both teams.
Nash needs offence (mainly a guy with some goal scoring ability & creativity) & Pitt needs a whole lot, but really needs some big tough D. A 2nd, nine out of ten times is a throw away.

Thoughts?

I don't see Nashville making this deal. We know how much Poile loves draft picks, so I think it would take something better than Morozov to get Poile to drop a second rounder.

as much as i dislike morozov, at this point i still think that the pens need mor scoring. also, if morozov is going, its going to need to be a proven d-man, not a prospect.

The offense and defense both suck in Pittsburgh. Pick one to improve. If anyone is going, it will be for a d-man that can do something. Kloucek has potential but isn't there.

I think it's fair.
And tempting from the Pens's standpoint.
But I'm not sure the Pens can afford to lose more scoring punch.
Kloucek is intriguing though.
How is his knee?

I cant answer that. I know hes back though. Problem is, he seems a bit injury prone.

No.

Offer offence not defence for a forward.

Whats the point of that. Its not really a dalary dump on either team. If Pitt doesnt need a D man (which they do) more than a forward, fine. But then whats the point of trading Morozov? Maybe for Arkhipov, but thats a drop in quality (right now anyways).

I doubt the Preds would want Morozov, at that price, to begin with. However, we are going to have to trade either Allison, Kloucek, or Brookbank here in a week or two.

A draft pick would most likely suffice . I really would like to package one of them up for a goalscorer, but I'm not sure who would be available or how much Leopold would open the purse strings.

Kloucek for a 2nd/3rd would be more realistic for both teams. Polie loves his draft picks, and the Penguins do not have much to deal besides prospects or picks (that they can afford to give up). I'd hate to pull the trigger, if I'm Polie, but, in reality, this is probably overestimating Klo.'s value right now. However, Pittsburgh realllllllly needs some capable d-men, and he mgiht be the answer. Trotz hasn't really given him much of a chance this year....maybe a change would be good.

Personally, I would love for Tomas to stay with the Preds. If I was the GM, no deal to this proposal. Alas, I'm not the one in charge.....

I then think Kloucek for a 3rd (will be virtually a late 2nd) is more than fair for Pitt.
Sounds like that works.

well, i personally like morozov...but i think the deal works better like this...

kloucek, arkhipov
for
morozov, 5th

i agree that the draft pick would probably hold up the deal, but arkhipov is seriously falling out of grace with nashville coaches and fans...but i think he just needs a change of scenery. shrug.

I dont see the point of this trade at all. If the Pen's are going to trade Morozov its going to have to be for someone more proven than Kloucek.

As much as I like Morozov it would be hard to say no to this deal.

Avs have picked up an extra dman from Nashville and had good results (DeVries) I'd be inclined to give up a third, as we did for Greg.

A 3rd would definetely work. IF Nashville pushed for a 2nd, Pitt always has two from the Hedberg deal.

The Penguins aren't exactly in a hurry for anything. They might as well stick it out with Morozov at least for the rest of this season.

the fact that i say hold off on this trade should mean a lot in itself.

I personally like the deal. Preds take on possible 20-30 goal scorer, and drop an injury prone d-man. Seems like every 4-5th game Kloucek gets banged up, if not seriously, enough to take him out of a game or get scratced every so often. I'm for it.

Kloucek ($400k salary) + #2 in '04 for Mark Parrish ($2.3M).

(This assumes NYI really is forced to cut more payroll.)

Not quite sure what to think now!

I'm neither a Morozov hater, nor a worshipper. But, fact remains, he's easily one of our top 6 forwards. And I don't think Kloucek has progressed much, if at all, when we were asking for him from NYR when shopping Jagr.

Why give up a forward, still of some value, for what is still a prospect D, when you've got Lupaschuk or Scuderi in Wilkes-Barre. Doesn't make sense.
