I'd sign Tanabe. Would help solidify our defense and he costs less than what Corvo signed for.

You know who costs even less than Tanabe?

Dallman.

Petiot is not NHL ready (let him gain some AHL confidence)

Dallman is on the bubble with some size issues and not a lot of NHL experience.

Tanabe is an established veteran who is still quite young.

He'll get signed and be a top 6 somewhere...

Be that as it may, I think Dallman and Weaver are already slotted into the role that Tanabe would fall into if he were picked up.

Isn't Tanabe married to Michelle Kwan, or am I thinking of something else entirely?

Richard will be 24 in 2 weeks.......Tanabe is 26. If the Kings don't let Petiot play a regular shift in the NHL soon he will never even have an NHL career to speak of.

Nope, Bret Hedican is married to Kristy Yamaguchi. Michelle Kwon was dating Brad Ference for a bit.

According to the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the players and the NHL, the Sabres have to automatically accept Mair's award because it is less than $1.4 million.

Tanabe was awarded a one-year, $1.275 million contract by arbitrator Edwin H. Benn during an August 3, 2006 hearing. // The Boston Bruins have exercised their "walk-away" option on the arbitration award to defenseman David Tanabe. Tanabe is now an unrestricted free agent able to sign with any NHL team.
Can one of you CBA experts explain why the Sabres have to accept Mair's award "because it is less than 1.4", but the Bruins are able to walk away from Tanabe's 1.2 award?
Squidward? King Blazer? Puck You? Is this your area of expertise?

The figure is actually $1.04M, not $1.4M; that's why. If the award is less than $1.04M (ex. Mair), the team cannot walk away. If it's more than $1.04M (ex. Tanabe), the team may walk away.

That was actually Shane Willis. Shane was concussed on that hit and was never the same player. However, he has just resigned with the team this year after playing overseas for two years, so we'll see how he has progressed.
