he will be playing in the AHL.

I have watched about every game of his college career.

I think he will be a good nhl player for a LONG time. I see him being a 3rd liner with 15 +30 assist type stuff.

He's a fiesty player, who will draw and take penalties. Probably even drop the gloves over time.

He's a player you want on your team.

I cannot stand the guy. But Irmen kind of reminds of Matt Cooke. A pure agitator. Irmen is not much of a cheap shot and will fight. But i see the same production. 10 goals 20 assits. My grand hope is that Clutherbuck and Irmen will be like the ol' red wings grind line. Play PK, take advantage of turnovers, But mostly do not do anything to loose the game. Only increase the chances of winning it.

I can't say enough good things about Irmen. He's easily the best 3rd round pick in the short history of this organization; a real steal.

Here we go again. Let's make big predictions for another former Gopher.

First it was Bonnin and last year it was Westrum. I don't mean to be down on Minnesota hockey, but it's just such a HUGE step from college to the NHL.

Luckily JL knows how to evaluate players despite the pressure from the media to promote local players.

Irmen is not Brian Bonin, nor is he Erik Westrum. I don't see what point you're trying to make in comparing them.

What about Ballard, Martin, and Leopold? You conveniently did not mention them...

Who cares if Irmen is a former Gopher? Are we supposed to have a negative opinion of him just because he wore the Maroon and Gold?

Eric Johnson is a Gopher, will he suck?

How about Thomas Vanek, didn't he have a good rookie campaign?

Local guys often get an automatic backlash. I think it's a defensive mechanism to counteract the tizzy the local media goes into.

I was told to "think Marco Sturm, with better playmaking than finishing"

I love the kid as a prospect.
