Legace to STL = Weekes stays?

I don't see another possible destination, I think our goaltending situation is set.

Having Two capable goalies is a great thing to have...The constant battle for that number 1 spot is always up in the air...I really wont be suprised to see if Weekes gets on a Hot Streak this season and time is split between him and Henke. Would be an ideal situation going for the Cup.

I have no problem keeping Weekes around. He's a very capable backup that can give some strong performances if Henrik is tired or just to give him a start or two.

I think it was set. Weekes is a good backup, and I don't think the Rangers ever seriously considered moving him.

exactly. I don't know why people got it into their heads that Weekes was being traded just because the Rangers signed Valiquette.

Sather always has the option of moving Weekes, but on his terms and with limited value for him elsewhere right now, there is no reason to just give him away.

Weekes could still go to other teams, Columbus is a possibility.

I could def see Weekes moving to a team that really needs a veteran backup: THE NEW YORK RANGERS

I think the goaltending situation has been set ever since the end of last season. I don't think the Rangers felt any real need to trade Weekes and I'm not sure what the market for him really was. Look how late in the game Legace signed.

i really dont think theres any "battle" for the number one spot as much as there is an experienced guy who can give him a rest

There is no battle, but I hope Weekes gets 20-30 games. The best bet is to give him them in bunches.

I have always wanted Weekes to stay, he was a big part of the team last year, although you can argue not so much on the ice. But having a veteran goaltender who can come into games and steal a few(ie one of the last philly games) is a great thing that we are lucky enough to have. Look at teams like the devils for instance, if brodeur goes down they COULD have a serious problem, where as we are lucky enough to have two capable NHL goaltenders. Plus a few in hartford. All in all I hope to see him get more games this season than last. He seems like the kind of goaltender that given games in groups he will excell.

I really don't think Weekes was that bad. I just think Lundqvist was so good.

I don't think that Weekes was ever in the thoughts of the the Rangers brass as trade bait. At least not to start the year. Personally, I am no no hurry to trade him. The only way I would think on it, is if Montoya is having a stellar season in Hartford and would be groomed to take on an apprenticeship as Henke's understudy the following year. And even that would not happen until the trading deadline and only if the possible return made it a no-brainer.

I think the Rangers need to get more physical especially on d as far as moving the player out of the crease and away from Lundqvist. I noticed alot of players trying to crash the net and screen the goalie. I hope this trend dont continue this new season.

This is where I'd love to add a player like Jackman to the defensive mix.

Weekes

Weekes is a good goalie at times and henrik seems ready to be a starting goalie in the NHL arleady with the way he played last season. Weekes isn't costing the rangers alot of money and though i'm not a fan of Weekes. the goalie situation for the ranger seems to be working hopefully this year they can make it to the playoffs again and go some where with it.

I like Jackman, but I'd rather ante up for Barker or Jack Johnson.

By Jove I think they've got it!

Weekes was NEVER going anywhere. Maybe at the deadline, but even that's unlikely.

I could see his value skyrocket by winning like 10 games in a row and just playing great in goal. We all know that Biron's trade value was high after coming off that hot streak and just anchoring Buffalo but apparently, teams weren't offering enough to land him.

I'd consider dealing him but only if we're getting a very good deal.

Johnson yes, Barker no.

People are getting wowed by a very good rookie camp and forgetting some very serious flaws the guy has had in his game for several years now. Somehow, especially on the Rangers board, people aren't aware of just some of the serious ?'s surrounding Barker and the fact that he's coming off two subpar junior campaigns following his draft year.

Jackman while not as naturally talented as the other two, is probably the most attainable if one is indeed attainable.

Personally I'm more inclined to give up less and get a player who compliments what we already have than give up a lot of what we already have and start from scratch with building around that guy.

I don't see the fascination with Weekes, really. The games that I saw he came up small, especially against the elite teams, such as Ottawa(remember the game where he gave up 4 in the 1st?)Philly(giving up that goal 7 seconds into OT),and Buffalo(the game where the Rangers came back to win after he was replaced by Henrik). There are many others, but those are just off the top of my head.

Jackman's a guy..

who I wanted since his draft day - even suggesting the Rangers trade their higher pick to pick in the middle of the pack to get him. I'm hoping Staal becomes Jackman, only bigger, more effective and more durable.
