Buddy, where the hell is the *** that I'm kissing? I care because it's embarrassing. It has nothing to do with what forum I think it should be placed in, and everything to do with me wanting to avoid the inevitable elementary school piss fest.

Yep, games like this are all Leafs fans have to cling to. They haven't been good enough to even compete for the Cup in 40yrs so they crawl around looking for bright spots in their bleak history. They are always trying to prove that they aren't the most pathetic of the Original Six. Come on, that game was against a bottom of the barrel Sabres team and it wasn't like it was even a playoff game or anything. But do whatever you gotta do to nurse those bruised egos, Laffs fans.

Really? Is that why they just resigned a boatload of them to long-term deals?

You're dead wrong. They lost McKee. But they got Spacek instead. They lost Dumont but Pominville is more than capable of taking over for him. Vanek should pick up his scoring as should Kotalik.

Since when is coming in second place something to brag about?

Only in the Olympics it is. Because you get a nice shiny silver medal.

If the Leafs were to make the finals but lose next season, would that give us the right to chant 1970 to Sabres fans?

Such a silly argument.

I bet winning a championship in a 6-team league isn't very hard. That's pretty much the equivalent of making the playoffs in a 15-team conference. All you have to do is not suck that much.

I'm not bragging about Toronto's previous Cup championships. I undestand it was way different back then.

I also acknowledge that Buffalo has pretty much owned Toronto for a long while now.

I'm just saying bragging about Stanley Cup final losses doesn't make much sense to me.

Tell that to New York and Chicago.

You don't get it, do you? Both of our teams have spent the greater part of the last three decades blowing. To take any sort of pride in not sucking more than another team is nothing short of sad.

You haven't been here for long. Do you think there is some magical barrier when things like this are posting on the team specific boards?

No.

Another stupid argument.

Shouldn't this line be directed to some Sabres fans?

Countdown to lockdown shall commence soon. Another perfectly good thread for some users ruined by others.

If you don't like the topic, why even bother?

I know, right? It doesn't even make sense directed at me.

How about this, you take pride in your single Stanley Cup appearance in 35 years. I'll take pride in the fact that when my team sucks I don't have to worry about them moving to Kansas.

Wow. You know so much about hockey. I'm pretty sure we've made it to the finals twice in our 35 years. You know, two more times than the Leafs have in the past 39 years? And when did we ever have to worry about our team moving? We never have, we were just waiting for the right person to rescue the Sabres. And Golisano did.

My mistake, you're right. Buffalo made the Stanley Cup final in 1975, before I was born. I obviously do not know anything about hockey, and I will never live down this embarrassment.

But seriously, someone needs to start a Chicago thread. Now that I know that as long as you're not the worst failures in the league, you still have something to be cocky about, I'm going to take advantage of it.

Don't try to drag the Sabres down with the Leafs.

Since 1970, the Sabres have 1309 wins including 2 Stanley Cup Finals appearances and a 74% playoff appearance rate.

Since 1970, the Leafs have 1161 wins including 0 Stanley Cup Finals appearances and a 71% playoff appearance rate.
