Interesting comment in the Newsday....

The Rangers sent Dominic Moore and Paul Healey back to Hartford yesterday and recalled Jed Ortmeyer, a rookie free agent from the University of Michigan who was second on the Wolf Pack with 10 points (two goals, eight assists). Ortmeyer is a wing, and Glen Sather has decided he likes Jamie Lundmark at center instead of Moore.

Sather decided..

he wanted to see one of 'his' guys get ice time, yet wanted to keep Lundmark in the lineup. The only way to do that is to play Lundmark as a fourth line center. If Ortmeyer plays against the Devils, I'd be surprised if he got more than four minutes of ice time. It is a fourth line, and they are going against the Devils. I'm thinking it would make sense to spread the youth out over other lines and actually play four lines, but who am I, I just pay to see games, as opposed to being paid to create crap.

Thanks Fletcher, I was looking forward to seeing Ortmeyer play, I think he's way underrated because of size, but in college he was pretty much a Todd Marchant clone. Yeah, against the Devs, unless injuries occur, he'll get just a few minutes....

OR, he could be Erica's replacement on Holik's right. Jed's defensive abilities seem like a good fit for that line. Clearly, Lundmark and Carter were getting things done together anyway, so why break them up?

Again, just a little common sense, but probably a pipe dream.

Why break up Holik and Carter to begin with?
Why not play Lindros as a center?
Why is Messier playing 18+ minutes a night?
Why are Poti and Leetch paired together?
Why is Holik not going against the other teams' top lines every night?

When you have an answer for any of those, maybe we'll be able to field the above question.

Rangers did put in a waiver claim for Jason Wiemer, but lost the tenacious winger to Minnesota. When Wiemer was placed on waivers Tuesday by the Islanders, the Rangers were 5-5-2-2, ahead in the overall standing of the Wild, then 6-7-2-0. Hence, Minnesota's claim trumped New York's.
Is it just me, or is it better that we weren't able to get our hands on that headcase.
