an agitator...

when I think agitator I think Cooke, Ruutu, Avery, et al....

but Irmen isnt that kind of player- he is feisty, but I dont think I've ever seen him do the agitating type behavior...I see him more as a gritty two way winger with some scoring ability, almost a power forward.

discuss.

I can see Irmen in that role. I think playing college he had to tone his game down a bit. Didn't he break his hand punching a guy in the face in the USHL? But i think he will be more of pest type. Like Walz. Always working hard and always coming right at you. But he will add that physical side to it. Getting into lots of scrums and he will see and give many a face wash.

I do not see him as a cheap shot. He has the skill to lay clean shoulder on shoulder hits. And instead of going for the spear or sucker punch he will just fight.

My understanding is he's a trash-talker on the ice. When you wear a mask, there's just not alot you can do when someone pisses you off other than try to get under his mask. I think that when you combine his gritty, hardworking style of play, with the talk and with no mask ... yes, I think he could be an agitator.

he wore a cage in the USHL and would peel it off to drop the gloves...

I don't know that I have ever seen a USHL player in recent years wear a full cage. You sure about that? Every one I have seen wears a half shield.

well

I've seen a lot of irmen....

He's just a very agressive player, and likes to talk a lot of smack sometimes on the ice when its heated, he admits this.

I think he will get into some fights now and again and draw some penalties.

He's more then just an agitator though, but I think he might to some degree be one, but not like in a ruutu sense.

I'll be damned if I cant find pictures of Irmen when he played for Lincoln...

but I remember watching some guys from Green Bay and Omaha taking off their helmets w/ cages to fight this past spring.
