Detroit vs. Chicago GDT 11-14-03.

Can they make it three straight? Thomas returns to Chicago where he played last year. Who will start in net tonight? I hope Hasek does. I think Detroit takes this one 4-1.

I tried a ton of times to get tickets to this...and it wasnt meant to be. Usually I go to these games as its a riot:

1) To see how bitter blackhawks fans are and how they take it out by chanting "De-troit-sucks" instead of "lets-go-hawks".
2) To see the U.C. filled with at least 30% Red Wings jerseys.

Oh well, there will be a couple more Wings at Hawks games I can go to this year.

GO RED WINGS!!!

With Thibault out and Leighton in, I will say 4-2 Red Wings.
If Andersson is in instead of Leighton I will say 6-1 Red Wings.

Wings are gonna come out hard again and hopfully Bootland will play tonight again, since that 4th line with him on it is actaully worth watching since he's always doing something physical. Anyway...

ill say 5-1 detroit

detroit: datsyuk, yzerman, shanahan (2), woolley
chi: Arnason

edit: ill add in bootland will get into 2 fights

My friend Tristan will be at the game tonight, lucky dog. And each time he's been to a Wings-Hawks game they have lost. So he and I both are hoping the curse is broken tonight.

I'm not going to venture a score, but I sure hope Pasha stays hot...three goals in the last two games ain't too shabby.

I agree. I looooove the atmosphere at the United Center. I only saw one game between Detroit and Chicago there (which was actually a fairly dull 2-0 win for Detroit) but the fans rocked. I was in one corner with mostly all Hawks fans and in the adjacent corner was mostly Wings fans. There was shouting back and forth through the whole game. It really made the evening great fun.

As for tonight, I hope for another strong effort by the Wings. Don't want to get arrogant and post a score but I think that if the Wings keep up what they are doing and role four good lines again, they can win it.

GO WINGS!!!

I'm not expecting Chicago to roll over and let us stomp them this game. They'll come out with a strong first period but die down after that.

Wings 4-1

Lets see if the Wings can keep it together. The Hawks played like crap last game. So i expect Sutter will have them fired up. I wonder if Yzerman rest tonight or tomorrow?

Wings game

Hello, first post here. I've been a lifetime Wings fan for 28 yrs. I went to the last game of the year in Chicago last year. It's too bad they blew it and ended up playing Anaheim. The game was a blast though. I would love to attend another one between these two teams. No matter which building they play in, both teams fans get into it.

I think the Wings will come out fast tonight. Chicago has a lot of injuries, especially to key players. They also don't play well from behind. I think Detroit wins 4-0.

Hey, with how our franchise has been treated, we have the right to be bitter.

5-2 wings. goals by McLean and Sullivan

Oh come on.. I didn't like how they let Chicago come back in the third, but Detroit absolutely dominated the vast majority of the game. When Chicago did come back, Hasek managed to hold them in a bit and then they won in overtime.

Wings were better off playing the whole game shorthanded. Never seen a game where the shorthanded team gets a ton of odd man chances.

Anderson made a great save on Shanahan earlier in the game.

Hey Teemu08, games in Chicago are purposely blacked out right? That sucks. Not a good way to generate fan interest IMO.

Wings got a win. They blew another 3rd period lead but at least got 2 points out of it.

Welcome to the clan!

Well, Tristan, you broke the curse - good on you, mate! Now I expect details!

And Pasha got a couple of assists tonight - that's 5 points in the last 3 games...not too shabby, kiddo.

A little scary, but at least we got it. On to Minnesota - that one might be a little tougher.

I didn't think either really won the fight. They both threw a few, connected a bit, nothing major. The linesmen jumped on them (literally) the first chance they got. I'm getting sick and tired of these damn linesmen breaking up fights immediately. They need to stand back, let the players tire themselves out, let the fans get a show, and then do their jobs as escorts to the penalty box.

Disagree about the Wings play tonight, though. I thought they looked soft and uninspired for the most of it, and were lucky to get two points. After allowing Chicago back into it, they arguably didn't deserve them.

Detroit got lucky that they were playing a slighty sloppier Hawks team then they were; uninspired play and took way too many penalties. Hasek looked decent, except for the 2nd Hawks goal, he gave a huge rebound and basically gave the Hawks player an empty net to shoot at. The 3rd period reminded me a lot of the Nashville game last week.

I didn't see a problem at all until the Hawks' second goal. Yes, Detroit took more penalties than I would have liked to have seen, but they nearly outchanced the Hawks on resulting powerplays. Detroit got one shorthanded goal, but could have easily had 2 or 3 more.

That said, I agree with whoever compared the 3rd in this game to the 3rd in the latest Preds loss. Detroit had full control of the game in both cases, a goal was scored against them, and the wheels suddenly came off.

I didn't like that at all, but I did like the fact that Hasek managed to make some good saves to get the to OT and also that Detroit managed the victory.
