Sportsline.com ranks the top 50 players

I am not sure if this is in the other forums but here is a ranking of top 50 players from Sportsline.com:

http://www.sportsline.com/print/nhl/story/9600770

But he's not the only one with that potential. Here's the list. Let the arguments begin.

1. Jaromir Jagr, RW: A little more support would have landed him the scoring title and MVP award last season. Even without the prizes, Jagr was still the league's most dominant individual and should be again this year.

2. Joe Thornton, C: Talk about benefiting from a change of scenery. The Bruins finally saw Thornton develop into the true franchise player they expected last year. Too bad it happened after they traded him to San Jose.

3. Chris Pronger, D: Pronger was the driving force behind the Oilers' great playoff run with his ability to control the tempo of things on the ice. He has size, strength, skill and smarts, all the things you want in a defenseman.

4. Eric Staal, C: A few years ago, Carolina pegged him as the guy to build a franchise around, but no one realistically expected results this fast. He's only 22 and figures to be a top five scorer for the next decade.

5. Ilya Kovalchuk, LW: Kovalchuk is arguably the most electrifying player in the league and has been a goal machine since coming to the NHL as a teenager five years ago.

22. Teemu Selanne, RW: Too bad the NHL doesn't give comeback awards. Selanne deserved it last year. He got over knee problems during the lockout and became one of the game's most dangerous snipers again.
Well he did win the Masterson right? That's the defacto comeback award.

Chris Pronger is a great player, but there's a reason Nick Lidstrom won the Norris, it's not because Pronger is better than him

I'm an habs fan, but how #33 Alexei Kovalev can be higher then Nash, Hemsky, Tanguay, Phaneuf...

Anyway, they're all pretty good player but some of them don't deserve to be the best 50 player of the league. Like I said, I really love Kovalev but not enough top #33 of the league. I will take over 33 players before him in my team.

I've only seen Columbus a few times but Nash at #38 stood out to me.

I have a hard time taking any top player hockey list seriously in Aug. especially from a 2nd rate site like sportsline.

At this point he is the only young D who is better then Pitkanen. The rookie season he had.... Unbelievable!!!
My list of young D in order the gap between 1 and 3 is very very close.
1. Phaneuf CAL
2. Pitkanen PHI
3. J-Bo FLO
4. Whitney PIT

Pronger's better than Neidermayer, Lidstrom, and Zubov? And Zubov's 45th?

This guy needs to pull his head out of his @$$.

I definitely would have put 3-7 AHEAD of Pronger. As well as Elias, Lidstrom, Kipprusoff, Sakic, Forsberg, Heatley, Brodeur, Naslund, and Brindy, making them 8-16.

That's just my personal opinion though.
