Salo to Chicago? (proposal)

Hmm...

With T-Bo out indefinitely Chicago may want to acquire another goaltender. Would they be interested in Salo do you think?

We can give them Salo cheap.

Maybe...

Salo + Rita

for

Arnason

Overpay. Salo or Rita would be enough I think.

Great! And it would solve some of our problems at centre.

As do 99% of proposals on this board, this proposal works for the Oilers, but makes NO sense for the other team involved.

Guys, think about both sides of the equation before posting crappy proposals like these.

First of all, Rita would be enough for Arnason. C'mon now. Rita hasn't done squat in this league and unless he gets it together soon, his stock will continue to drop.

Second, do you really think an organization as cheap as Chicago would give up an cheap, young, productive center for a struggling four million dollar goalie??

Chicago's management group is so tight with money, that after color analyst Dale Tallon was recently given the position of Assistant GM, they made injured defenceman Jason Strudwick their new color analyst, as they didn't want to spend the money to hire a new one. Not to mention they just canned a handful of their scouting staff.

THINK THINGS THROUGH PLEASE!!!!!

We might not be COMPLETELY confident but one thing we all share is a lack of confidence in Salo.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - I am 100% confident in Salo. He has been hung out to dry more times than not this year and although he has strugled he is capable of being a top 10 guy in the league. He has won Olympic golf, IHL, and back in Europe. He is going through a funk, but all good players do. Don't give up on this guy - heck a couple years ago he stole a playoff spot and was one of the elite tenders. I will never doubt his ability.

I don't know. He's been having a lot of problems stopping shots over the shoulder the last couple of years. I'm worried he is getting old.

crap... Tommy is what... 32? time to put him out to pasture.
Im sure Ty, who has no experience and is all of 5 years younger can pick up the slack of a 82 game schedule. Or wait, theres Stephane Valiquette, who has 6 games of NHL experience.

Nahh.. im sure we will be able to pick up one of those talented backups from other teams, who are just brimming with enough NHL experience to carry a young, non-defensive team on their back.

With the way Salo has been playing, and at his salary, I cannot imagine one team having the least bit of interest in him. It's not an indictment on his potential future play, as he could well rebound, but until he manages to put together a solid string of games i.e. till the end of the season, I do not expect he will be going anywhere. Very disappointed in his play, but perhaps the new year will bring him some focus.

Hey, if the Blues can do it... :p

As time goes by, I get more convinced Salo will be gone from the Oilers under only 3 scenarios:

(uno) He retires.

(deux) He dies.

(drei) He gets bought out.

it was '94 IIRC...but yeah, point taken

I more or less think that Salo hasn't won squat since he stoned Kariya on that breakaway to give Tre Kronor the gold in 94.

He gave us two terrific years, two decent years, last year ( ) and this year ( ).

Tommy is going downhill fast. If he isn't playing better by mid-season, we have a serious problem with a useless 3.9 Million contract that nobody is going to want. <- Stating the obvious...
