Sweet Caroline is our song. Its the song our players hear when they walk into the locker room after a win and its the song we here leaving the Garden after a win.

The "Rangers Victory Song" was written in 1940 by J. Fred Coots in tribute to the team that finished the 1939-40 season as Stanley Cup champions. He officially dedicated the song to "Lester Patrick and the New York Rangers."

Here are the lyrics to Coots' "Rangers Victory Song":

Verse
Listen to the cheering of the people in the stands
Twenty Thousand hockey bugs and each a Ranger fan!
It's plain as day to see
They want a victory!
All together now strike up the band!

Chorus
Just keep your stick on that puck
And don't lay down on your luck;
That's the Rangers' Victory Song!
Get through the enemy's goal
With all your heart and your soul;
That's the Rangers' Victory Song!

You've got to fight, Rangers fight
With a grin on your chin!
Tonight is the night
So get in there and win!

This game is worth any price;
Go out and put it on ice
That's the Rangers' Victory Song!

Who else thinks this sucks? I hope Mr. Coots didn't get any cash for that or i'm going into victory song writing!

I'm guessing none of the posters in this thread are old enough to drink alcohol. No sense of tradition. Disgusting. I have no problem with Sweet Caroline, but think of why it is used, because it is Renney's favorite song. What will it become when they get a new head coach?

No...Live with it!!!! The song from the 40's is the victory song!
Who wants it changed? All Rangers fans under 20?

This is the song, if you don't like it go root for the fishsticks!

And another thing, can MSG stop playing sweet carolin before the game is actually over. I cringe everytime I hear that song with 5 minutes to go in the game and the rangers winning by 1.

The one thing people don't seem to recognize, including Renney, apparently, is that sweet Caroline is a Boston Red Sox song... if youy ask me, our victory song should be Detachable Penis by King Missile.

New era in Rangers history = perfect time get implement a new victory song.

BTW when the "old" Rangers victory song game on does all 20,000 fans start singing it together? Not at all. Sweet Caroline brings us closer with the team

No offense, but that has got to be the dumbest victory song you can have. The only reason they started playing it is because Renney likes it. What happens when we get a new coach and he likes YMCA, should everyone dress like the village peole, and should we change it again?????????????? Maybe Jagr can wear a hard hat in the locker room

Oddly enough I am old enough to drink alcohol, and from what I remember from the past season was Kasper had it on in the room one day after a morning skate and the team liked it and decided to adopt it. Regaurdless if its was Renneys song, Sweet Caroline was voted by the players to be their song. If they all agreed on the saints go marching in, then it should be that. Who cares what song was written in 1940. Let the players of NOW decide because after all, if that song is somthing they look foward to hearing then thats all that matters.

It's not my call...

what the players should listen to in the locker room after a victory. Whatever song brings them together, lets them have some fun, and is part of bringing more wins to the team. There are hundreds, if not thousands of songs I'd rather listen to, but this is about team togetherness, not about what song us fans would like to hear.
