My thoughts exactly

Was Rock and Roll Part 2...

that Gary Glitter song they stopped playing briefly when he was accused (or convited) of child pornography, or something along those lines? I think they stopped playing those songs all around the sports arenas and stadiums as a result.

I personally think having Sweet Caroline as the team song makes no sense,if they voted on it,fine by me.Although,it might be changed now that new players have/will be coming in.So,let me start a thread within this thread, and ask,If you had to pick a team song for the Rangers, what song would you pick?

What are you talking about? Nobody voted for it. Renney told the players it was his favorite song. So, after their first win, Kasparaitis played it in the locker room and then they did it all season. Word leaked out about it, and they started playing it at MSG late in games or after wins.

The debate is between Sweet Caroline or the traditional "Rangers Victory Song" which is the instrumental they play immediately after the buzzer sounds following a Rangers win.

It's a classic? Never once have I really heard that song before this season and I have been watching the Rangers since 1980 and getting to atleast two games per year. Just because it's old doesn't mean it's a classic. If it were so good I think it would be more ingrained in the fanbase don't you? And the ryming is horrid.

They play the instrumental version after every home win.

It is a classic POP song...Anybody over 40 would remember that song flooding AM radio back in the late 60's and early 70's...

ANd just asso I don't sound like too much of a wuss...I used to love when the Garden played "CITIES ON FLAME" by Blue Oyster Cult during Ranger games....

Yup, and have been doing so for quite a while. I guess Radek hasn't been paying attention at his two games per year. Either that, or they just lost everytime he attended.

This is the only version that should ever be played, EVER.

I am talking about the worded version of the song. The ryming is really bad. Don't get down on your luck? Was that the only word they could find that rymes with puck? For a franchise like the Rangers the word luck should never be used.

Lets put it this way, how many Ranger fans can sing that song word for word? Maybe i'm just too young to admire the song in the way some other older fans do. I don't like baseball at all and really never watch it, but I know the Ynkees play NY NY after every home win, now thats a great victory song because it connects with the fanbase and is a real classic in every sense of the word.

I really like the song they play after we score a goal at a home game. I think that, or something very similar to it should be our victory song.

Anyone ever heard "I wanna be a new york ranger" (set to I wanna be an airforce ranger w/a punk beat) by the Misfits? It's pretty horrid but topical.

"Iwanna be a New York Ranger
I wanna live the life of danger
I wanna be a New York Ranger
I wanna live the life of danger

Whoa oh whoa
Whoa oh whoa

Whoa oh Rangers
Go Rangers
Go New York"

like I said pretty bad... lol
