OT- Alexisonfire : Crisis

I noticed, through an other thread about the Vans Warped Tour, that there are a lot of Alexisonfire's fans. The new album called "Crisis" will be released pretty soon and I succeed getting some tunes on the Internet. Don't worry, since I'm a big music fan I naturally buy the albums even if I downloaded the whole album. So I host all their albums, and if some of you had the chance to listen to a couple of the new songs I want to know your impressions about it. If you haven't had the chance to listen to it, you can share what you think about this band and everything surrounding them.

I personnally love what they're doing ; it's kind of punk/metal with a good mixing of three different voices and some great guitars. They're not my favorite band, but I still appreciate their cd's and it's the kind of band openminded that won't be shy of switching from a style to an other.

(Yeah I'm bored and I can't wait for the hockey season to begin.)

So what I understand is that you don't like the screamings? The voices is what I like the best, especially Georges screaming. His voice on their debut album was mediocre I admit, but they changed their sound since.

Hate them with a passion that can only be described as a burning toxic acid in the deepest pit of my stomach that rises until I can almost taste the vile essence of burned bile in the back of my throat

Which bands? I found them to be very unique just 'cause all other punk/emo bands are all the same. I looked at the line-up at the Warped Tour, all I saw is so-called emo bands, or punk bands. Fact is, punk don't sell anymore. Have you bought the last Millencolin for example? Sucks. I used to hate NOFX because of their lack of diversity in anything they've done, same thing here. I'm really not a fan of "punk music", so Alexisonfire, maybe Thrice and Underoath (who are more Metal than anything but stilla touch of "punk") are the closest I can come to this genre.
BTW, it's hard to classify their music, so you can tell me which bands of what genre?

I found Dallas Green's album to be quite repetitive.

Some of these such band have actually started turning up on OzzFest. I think Atreyu was there. I was pretty suprised because a few years ago they were on Warped Tour and yet I classify them as an emo band.

I've heard some Alexisonfire, I have I think 3 songs on my play list, it's not so so bad.

There isn't much punk to go around unless you really get underground. I don't want to call it a dying form of music but it kind of is because the better punk bands around are ones that were real popular in the 90's (Goldfinger is my favorite but even recently they've gotten a bit stale)

Punk, it appears to me, simply is something people have stopped buying into. I mean Thrice used to be punk, but turned more emo with their last album. Emo's the new Punk. Kind of ironic actually...

I havent heard Alexisonfire's last album, but i'll check it out. I wasnt very fond of their last albums considering that the only song i've like was "Accidents".

Btw, Underoath is a hardcore Christian band, for those who didnt know...kinda like Zao...

Thrice was never punk....They were "screamo" which isn't at all far away from emo, they just made a minor adjustement.

I'm not sure weither the new singer is a Christian or not, but I know that you can no longer call them hardcore. The ex-singer of Underoath is now in Maylene and The Sons of disaster (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm...iendID=5302690)

Thrice's first album: Identity Crisis was pretty punk Shabutie. Compared to The artist in the ambulance anyways.

As for underoath, regardless of what they've become, i always thought they sucked anyways.

i'd consider them close to the screamo genre. im not a huge fan of this type of music anymore, but if you are, there are better bands outside of the warped tour.

a list of better bands you should check out:

refused(more hardcore, check out "the shape of punk to come", its incredible)
the assistant

how about we stop caring about what genre a music falls into, and just all listen to the Lawrence Arms?

Well they managed to live through the Emo generation, and it seems as though most of the kids are going Hardcore these days. Alexis attracts members of both worlds....so I'll say your wrong on this one.

I did... Didn't care much for it either. If you want to consider Identity Crisis punk, go ahead, it still remains that they're one of the gayer bands out there at this time.
