I'm officially scared

going into the playoffs looking like the team we are scares me

someone please give me some reasons to be optomistic about our playoff chances

esche has been EXTREMELY shakey in the last 3 games, the sens just shut us down. If we play them 1st or 2nd round I'm afraid.

-the devils aren't going to sweep boston
-we're going to beat the isles on sunday to win the division
-roenick, primeau and desjardins will be 100%
-we've got oen of the best coaches in the league
-we're gonna beat new jersey

after that i dont know, i like to look at things from a psychological standpoint, we're gonna be on the right track--how we're gonna match up with other teams on paper, we'll see--there are seven real good teams in the east, one lucky team is going to emerge. hope toronto eliminates or severely wears down ottawa, and hope tampa bay can't handle the pressure of being a favorite. it's going to be tough to emerge from the east, but we can do it

Well, look at what has happened during this season. We go in cycles with our play. We start to win (OCT-NOV), we lose (DEC-early JAN) and then go on a win streak (through Feb.) Usually when things are at their worst, it seems to get so much better the next time we play.

Burke has been sharp down the stretch

At this point, I feel more confident with him in net.

The way Esche has played he should be in the minors. We dominated the first period, then a f'ing wrist shot from the blue line, goal Sens. The team busts their buts only to be let down by Esche for the 4th straight game, if Esche starts another game this year, something is going to get broken in my house. And before you start saying I am coming down on Esche because he is slumping, that's BS. I have said from the day we got Burke he should be the man, and defended him when you all pissed all over him( with the exception being Bobbyclarke fan club)

Typical Flyers season.

Dominate in Nov-Dec-Jan
Start to slump in Feb
Shaky in March
Out in early April

So what else is new???????

Team loaded with old guys up front, who are past their prime and can't seem to skate out of their way against good teams this time of year.

Oh yeah, I forgot the part about lousy G too. What in the $*%%) has happened to Esche.

This team always gets me psyched in Jan or so, only to fall flat on their face in March-April.

When the geese will fly...the Flyers will fry.

I might as well hijack this thread and turn it into a positive thread

Let's think of this while we're in the playoffs

Haha, it looks like they're slow dancing.

On a serious note, I'm not sure what to think of this team. Last year the Flyers finished the season 10-2-2, and they were mostly wins by a good margin. That's not really shaky in March.

Maybe 6th seed wouldn't be so bad, because if Burke is the starter he won't have the pressure in the first 2 games like he would if they were at home, and he could get into a groove. I don't know, its just frustrating sometimes trying to read this team.

Hey jplush, I hear you about this team. I don't know why, but this team is loaded with talent, yet can't win when they really need to. I'm wondering if years of complacency have set in and maybe it's time to rebuild the core of the team. I say that if they bomb in the first round, then it's time to clean house. No more excuses for this team.

-3-1 new jersey lost
-we got a point vs. the isles, ok we played cautious
-roenick, primeau scored on sunday, desjardins and malakhov found themselves in action a lot

-we've got a great shot against the devs, esche looked like esche today, look past the three goals, one was a great shot, one was yashin by himself, one was blocked by primeau that pinballed its' way in, esche stole many more...

Yeah, this is my assessment too. As I have said before, the 1986 playoffs vs. the Rangers has formulated my view of this team. If there is a chance they will let me down, they'll jump at it!
