Flinn signs with San Antonio

THANK FRIGGIN' GOD . . .

The Ryan Flinn era is OVER...

San Antonio Rampage signed him. May he have a long and blissful season touring the Alamo.

Damn, I'm going to miss all the "Bring Up Flinn" posts. Remember when Brennan, Flinn and Norton would all be dressed in the lineup? Fun times...

Ryan is a great guy and I wish him the best, considering he suffered a terrible injury the last game he played in the NHL.

Good luck Ryan.

Hopefully he's not skating to San Antonio. He'd only make it as far as Palm Springs by the time the season starts.

You're giving him far too much speed.

Cursing? I say he's just made a blood pact with the Devil to bring the #49 back to Staples Center...

Great work ethic, extremely physical, pretty good defensively, good offensive skill set for a agitator/pest, draws a ton of bad penalties from the opposition.

The odds of it happening are virtually non-existant as Avery loves the spotlight and the crazier he acts the more the media covers him... but he has the skills and attitude needed to become one of the most desireable depth players in the NHL.
Cut out the attitude and Avery is still one of the most despised players in the NHL as one would expect of an excellent pest, but would rapidly become a fan favourite on any team he played for.

I look at Avery as a lesser and wilder Darcy Tucker. Tucker's one of the most despised NHL'ers but he's incredibly popular in Toronto for good reason.

Avery claims he's done with the shenanigans, but I think we'll have to wait and see.

Avery would never be considered an "enforcer"...

I think you'll have Parros to kick around this coming season...

The AHL has adopted a manditory visor rule for this season. The enforcers will likely be adding helmet removal to their fight set-up routines which should add to the entertainment value. So many ways to remove the helmet...

San Antonio visits the VWA on November 8th. Flinn vs. Ivanans?

Yeah, it's kinda sad, but the Kings did add Ivannas, so I'm not too angry. Flinn was definately top 5 in the AHL though. I wonder how recovered he really is from the concussion...

I concur. Too bad people feel the need to kick players when they are down.

Not really. I'm glad he was able to sign somewhere and wish him the best. I've always wanted us to sign a real enforcer who also can play, but don't see it happening.

The problem with that is that they are all already signed. There isn't enough of those kind of guys out there .....

Parros and Ivanans are as close as it gets.

Some of you seem to forget that Parros was playing in friggin' Princeton, NCAA hockey, where there is no fighting. He didn't really train to become an enforcer until he turned pro. Look at where he came from and what it took for him to get to where he is today. For a first year NHL rookie, he handled himself pretty well last season. If he can get his balance down, he'll be fine.

I agree. Hell even after he started working with Marty did he improve dramatically. Balance is always going to be an issue for him. It's funny to me that people knock Parros because at the beginning of the season last year, the Luc-Army-Parros line was one of our better lines until Fro-Cornoy-Demitra started clicking.

Not even close.

He hasn't logged any ice time in last two seasons. Hard to be a top 5 in the league whe your team has the lowest majors in the league.

Who has the Flinner actually beaten in the last two seasons (besides Brendan Walsh) that could be considered a legit heavy..........? Sean Curry? Garrett Stroshein?

As a matter of fact, he was KD twice in one game by Steve Parsons. Who is not a NHL talent by any stretch, but a good "fighter" none the less.

He was never the same after he had his orbital bone broken by Colton Orr, IMO.
