Grabovsky: a lock for Hamilton?

With all this contoversy surounding Makin and trickling down to a couple of Oiler prospects, is it garanteed that Grabovsky is coming to North America? Does he have to go through that two week window or anything like that cause i'm waiting to see what he can do playing the Canadian game.

He's fine, he had no contract with his RSL team so he was a FA and already signed a deal with the Habs. He'll be in the AHL or in the NHL.

And if Latendresse doesn't make the team does he go to Hamilton or the Q?

You think he could make the team this year though? (Grabovsky)

I would say no. He'd have to impress enough to knock a veteran out. Even then, I don't see him fitting into this lineup. Top six are set and I don't think him playing on the bottom two lines will benefit him or the team. Not to mention he'll be up against Kostitsyn and Latendresse among others. Perhaps a cup of coffee but I'd be surprised if he plays any more than that. (Awesome on him if he does though)

A year in the AHL will do him great. Get used to the NA style of play, learn a bit of English, etc. Now I just want Emelin to come over...

If he wants to, he's gonna need to be one of Hamilton's scoring leader. He has alot of RSL experience and is fast so I wouldn't be surprised if he has a more then decent rookie campaign. We never know..if he has a really strong training camp...then we'll have no choice then giving him icetime with the big club.

I think it's a possibility if he wows at training camp. Someone over at the Habs official forum found records of other players who played with Moscow Dynamo and then went straight into the NHL and had a pretty convincing arguement about why Grabovsky might make the big club.

As for the language issue, I honestly don't think it's that big of a deal. Ideally, he'd at least know some English, but with the amount of Russian-speaking players on the team, it's not as if he'd be out of the loop.
