Travel time question

I am taking my family to Mt. Tremblant, Quebec for a skiing vacation during the week of February 12, 2007. I see that Lewiston will be in Shawinigan at the end of that week, and I'd love to go see Jonathan Bernier play (I'm a Kings fan).

Yahoo is telling me that it is a 4-hour drive to Shawinigan from Mt. Tremblant, even though it is only 120 miles. Is that right?

Mapquest says it's 137 miles and about 3 hours, which seems a little more reasonable. The problem is that there's no direct route between the two; you'll probably have to go down to Montreal and then up 40 to Shawinigan.

It'll be worth it though, the rink in Shawinigan is out of this world. I've never been but if you like Art Deco, wooden benches and fat support columns in the seats holding the place up, it'll be your kind of place.

Thanks, OAG. Anyone else? Maybe someone who's actually made the trip before?

Your best bet is autoroute 15 South up to the 640, then take 640 east, that will lead you on the 40 and will take you to Shawinigan. A little more than 3 hours drive with no traffic. It's not worth taking all the secondary routes, they are low speed and if you get behind a truck it's even worst... Have a safe trip!

Don't forget the blinding blizzrds. That could double, triple, or worse the time, if not make it impossible. Don't become a statistic, k?!

Don't know the schedule, but I'd look at making a game in Lewiston then flying out of Portland. It could be a little more inconvenient but maybe a whole lot cheaper.
