I also watched the hit Kloucek laid on Gelinas...Gelinas took 4-5 steps to regain his balance, looked like he was a skating monkey there for a second. Good stuff, too bad Kloucek had to leave.

It was a pretty good hip check. Hamhuis looks pretty darn good as a Rook. He is going to be a stud in a few years.

As have I.....man...how I wish he was still in PG....or that the Canucks had been able to move up in the draft and snag him over Umberger .....

But that was a nothing hipcheck from Hammy...

What is this hipcheck you guys have for your desktops though?

Scroll down to the Columbus/Nashville game. It's a little ways in after the Arkhipov goal.

Edit: Here's a stillshot

Hammy's extended stay here has probably cemented him on the blue line of the big club. I was not altogether sure he was ready just yet, but he has been solid as he adjusted to the pace of the NHL game. Yes, he has made a few rookie mistakes. But he has also made some brilliant plays that more than atone for the miscues.

Lately I have seen more hipchecks in the NHL-- it seems to have made a resurgence of late. I like it...

Hipcheck was always Hammy's specialty...what was it, Hippy Hammy Shake? As long as he stays smart with it, its awesome. Some players might start jumping, causing some penalties, but when he is smart with it, it can be devestating.
