How do they pick the roster for the rookie tournament? Do they pick the roster at rookie camp? Is that where the four unknowns earned spots on the team?

That list can't be complete. Notice how there are no skaters with last names starting with A-F. Whatever caused them to be left off may, hopefully, be why O'Sullivan isn't there, either (yes, I know that O comes after F, haha).

McLaren is one tough kid and he can throw 'em. I got to watch him a lot this last season and he looked much better that previous years.

Are the players listed that are not under contract to the Kings considered Kings property?

case in point... Garrett Stafford played for the Kings in a rookie tourney a few years back and then signed with Dallas. (Later, of course, he signed with the Sharks, but his rookie tourney experience was with LA.)

Good to see Tukonen up there. I guess his injury healed or will be healed by the tourney. I doubt the coaches would want him to play in this if he wasn't 100%.

Is Patrik Hersley likely to take part? Can't see him on that list.

I asked a couple of players a couple of years back about the tournament, contracts, etc. From what I could gather (and this is from players mind you) the guys that aren't signed to NHL contracts with the Kings, sign try-out contracts with the Kings to participate in the tournament. The guys signing the try-out contracts include the guys that have played for the Monarchs in the previous season (i.e. Murphy & Werner this year).

Is he a good player and do you think he is someone the Kings should consider?

He is not top end talent for future 1st or 2nd line duty but he adds an element of toughness in the dirty areas and also is hard hitting and has the ability to fight. He creates room for his linemates. His skating is ok for a big guy but he needs to improve his first stride. Maybe a 3rd or 4th line guy at the next level.

Ya know, I didnt even notice him on the list. I was *sure* someone would take a chance on him this year and draft him in the late rounds. He's really grown on me in his time in Portland. Terrific fighter, stands up for his teammates, decent down low, decent shot, iffy skater. IMO, an upgrade to Parros should Mclaren show that he can skate at a higher level.
