Hawks, Islanders set to deal

http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?ID=60594&hubName=nhl

One source tells the Daily Herald that Chicago has expressed interest in one of the Islanders' top defencemen, either Janne Niinimaa or Roman Hamerlik. Islanders GM Mike Milbury is said to be lukewarm about dealing either of them at this point.

There are ongoing talks so its not just speculation . I'd like to see Mark Bell come to the Isle if Parrish goes.

As for trading Hammer or Niinimaa, Chi needs NHL caliber dmen but I dont really see a match in terms of Chi players coming back.I doubt they're going to give up Ruutu.

Spector's Rumors had this today:

TORONTO GLOBE AND MAIL: Eric Duhatschek reports of speculation
forward Mark Parrish will be the next player shipped out by the NY
Islanders as part of their cost-cutting measures. They lost forward
Jason Wiemer to waivers already. Duhatschek speculates the St. Louis
Blues might have some interest in Parrish as they could use a scoring
winger for Doug Weight's line.

Bottom line, now that the Islanders dumped Wiemer the way they did the rumors are going to run wild because it looks like a fire-sale even if it's not. Seems like Minnesota might have killed Milbury's deal with Chicago. Do the Hawks need another left wing/center?

Hard to believe Niinimaa could be considered for a trade this quickly after acquiring him.

Wasn't it Niinimaa who complained to his native country's press that he wasn't happy with his playing time on LI thus far?

He better be lukewarm!...Isles talk the last few years has been that we need another defensemen...well...Milbury went out and got Niinimaa.I can't believe Milbury would want to trade a d-man,but he probably didn't want to let Wiemer go either!

All this trading and salary dumping talk is getting to me,how much will it get to the team?

It would be nice to get Bell, Calder, or Daze...but knowing Mad Mike, and the fact he's on a Russian kick (Is his name Mike Smith?) It will be something akin to Parrish for Radulov

Remember? Dumont for Nabakov

Daze is out with another back injury.

Press reports out of Chicago is that he's facing early retirement. He's gonna try some new treatment and hope it works.

I don't want Calder+ or Bell+ for Hamrlik,Niinimaa or Parrish .

I'd take Calder+ or Bell+ for Parrish.

Both cheaper and younger!

That's if a deal has to be made!
