what is all this negativity regarding Pock. He is a converted center moved to defense. He has continually improved every year with NYR organization. JHC Edge what were you smoking comparing Pock to Peter Ferraro. Ferraro was a shrimp who was afraid of body contact and the boards, Pock is 6' 205# a strong skater, can shoot and handle puck, backchecks well and is not afraid of contact. His defense may be shakey, but what Dman is without sin. He needs the chance to play. I think he is a 3-4 guy and, if he has a strong camp will force his way onto team. I cannot see him playing behind Ricter, and with Kasper still recovering from surgery and possibly DL for first 10 games, Pock is a strong possibility to take his place.

Did Pock go through a name change? Look at his profile on the Rangers and NHLPA sites, http://www.newyorkrangers.com/team/p...p?playerid=305
http://nhlpa.com/WebStats/PlayerBiography.asp?ID=27955

He is now listed as Thomas Poeck.

Umm, see post #75. Or, I can copy and past from a couple messages above this one:

That is a transliteration of Pöck. Because most North American keyboards/fonts/etc don't have this ö, it may be transliterated as Pock or Poeck. Most transliterations I have seen have always been oe to distinguish the sounds for poor dumb Americans like us. Hence "Goebbels" and other famous names you will see today spelled "oe" when in German they are spelled "ö." Neither "Pock" nor "Poeck" are right or wrong. Much like transliteration from Cyrillic, you can see variations even for the same person, such as "Evgeni" and "Yevgeni" Nabokov. It isn't a different spelling, just a different transliteration, which is meant to indicate to a Western speaker how it might sound phonetically.

"He" didn't change his name. "He" spells it Pöck. The media may interchange these spellings at will.
