Whew, great start for our potential steal. It would be very interesting if he puts up near a point/game this year, it's not unrealistic given his very strong rookie season.

He's a center right??? If so, where in the hell could we slot him in down the road??? Suddenly we have some seemingly good to great Russian talent in Mikhnov, Trukhno, and Bumagin. We seem to be having much better luck with Russians than we did Finns in the past 4-5 draft seasons!!!

How about Zhukov??? I have been waiting for him to break out, hopefully this will be his season to do so.

Off to a quick start I see. Excellent news.

Of course with no transfer agreement, who knows if we'll ever see him?

I have a feeling we'll see a transfer agreement pretty quickly if these cases against Mikhnov, Malkin and the other Russian prospects goes badly. Bumagin led his team in scoring as an 18 year old last season despite the second leading scorer playing 10 more games than him last season (Buturlin, a former 2nd round draft pick) so might be something to this guy. I'm definitely going to follow his production closely this season.

On another note, I've seen this issue mentioned before and I'm wondering about it: If the Russians are whining about guys like Mikhnov fleeing over to the NHL, why shouldn't NHL clubs like Vancouver whine for money and transfer fees when their prospects like Koltsov head over the ocean to Russia?

One more question: Does anyone have a good site in English that follows the Russian Elite League?

I have used this site on occasion.
http://www.rushockey.com/

Reasonably good resource for stats and there is a message board as well...although I haven't had much luck getting any info on Jan Hejda.

Did anyone see this on the main board? http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=287913

Basically Fredrik Johansson didn't show up for training camp on Friday, because he's in Edmonton. The team (Frölunda) says they're pretty upset over the Oilers' tactics and Johansson's behaviour, and they're goal is to have him home as soon as possible.

They say it was unexpected of him to leave, but hasn't he been on the rookie camp roster for a long time?

This is basically a press release from the team:

Well, Johansson isn't making the team this year when he can go back to Europe for another year (we'd have to find another AHL roster spot for a guy like Mikhnov or Pouliot and that just isn't happening) so I can't see this being a big issue.

This thread is an institution here at the Oilers board, much like Lowetide's anual prospect expectations thread, and an excellent quick reference for those of us who aren't willing to scower the internet looking for the stats. Much appreciated Seachd.

Don´t read too much into that. European teams are always a bit pissed when players leave for camps when their own season starts at home. They may even not like the situation that Johansson is signed for next season by Edmonton before this season even has started - typical press stuff/speculation here that Johansson will sit out often to not receive any serious injuries cause he´ll have to report in good shape in Edmonton in 2007 and stuff. Often just made up, but well...

Don´t read too much into that.

How does the Czech league compare with say The RSL or the SEL talent wise?

I haven't seen as much, but I've heard it around the same as the SEL. So a step below the RSL.

Nice start for Hrabal. He's somewhat of a forgotten man in the Oilers organization - he put up some very solid numbers on his team last year and he's still only 21, any chance he'll make the trip over to North America next year if the Oilers land an AHL team?

Bumagin put up a goal and an assist in his second game for Lada leaving him with 4 points so far in 3 games this season. That's a great start for him and it would be very exciting if he could hover around a point/game this year.

Zhukov sure is coming out of the gate on fire with no points in 2 games. This kid had better get his **** together if he ever wants to be in the NHL.

Wow, 2g 2a in 3 games in the RSL is incredible. There's no way he can keep this up, can he?

As far as I can tell, he got two points his first game, and was held pointless the next two.

Really? It says here that Lada beat Dynamo 4-3 and that A. Bumagin came away with a goal and an assist (the third goal of the game and an assist on the 6th)...

Oh, yeah, that was their first game, on the 7th. They've played two since then.

Erp, sorry! I'm used to seeing the newest games at the bottom of the page so I forgot to look at the date of the game.
