During the lockout. Short Handed to boot. It's defenetly one of his best looking goals.

That hit is HUGE! However, I prefer this goal:

He was so damn fast back then, although he is still fast.

Actually, I think that goal was scored after that knee injury.

Yeah, I remember that goal. He already had two knee injuries at that time and he was twice faster before those injuries.

man, saku looked exactly like sergei samsonov in that first clip.
samsonov-koivu-kovalev?
that would be such an amazing line. hopefully for the powerplay we see these three together.

That's what I'm hoping too. Hopefully, Carbo will put Ribs with Ryder and Higgins and that line would click, but I guess he won't do it.

Posted this link on the NHL board, figured I'd put it up on here too, this thread seems appropriate instead of creating another one, hope you don't mind znk. This is taken from the 1998 all star game back when it was the N. America Vs the World format. Saku doesn't score from it but its a nifty move, hope he has a few tricks like this up his sleeve for the new season

Anyways, heres the link, hope you all enjoy. Can't wait to see him back on the ice.
Saku Koivu

lol had that goal been in the NHL, because Koivu's teammate obstructed the defenseman.. there likely would have been a penalty, and no goal.

The guy was driving the net I dont see a penalty there...you could even say the D could get a penalty for obstructing the forward trying to drive the net.

But Koivu could possibly have got a bording call on the hit.

He needs to shoot more....thats all. He's the same old Koivu but everytime he gets the puck in the slot, he'd looking to dish it off.

Am I the only one that thinks he gets most of the best chances and he never shoots....always passes?
