sportsnet reported yesterday that

the Caps are willing to eat a huge portion of Jagr`s salary for a change of scenery. He maybe a &*^% head but the Caps have no d, we have some depth, if we could move a stiff like Rivet in a deal , with say a prospect and say Sundstrom, would you make the deal. I get the feeling the Caps will not ask for a front liner, they just want to dump him.

What ideas can you guys throw around regarding Jagr. Is he too much of a problem to go after? Even if he gets 70-80 points a year, he is still better than what we got, hell the caps got him for a song and dance, they may wan`t to deal him for a song and dance, especially if they are on the hook for say 6 mil a year.

I would say NO to Jagr because he's simply not a team player!

Rivet & Sundstrom aren't team players so at least we add talent .

I wouldn't be against the habs looking at a deal for Jagr.

The way I look at it, is maybe we acquire this asset (Jagr) while his value is as low as it has ever been, and if nothing else if he can click for awhile in Montreal, maybe we trade him at the deadline (this year or next) for some prospects or something. It's amazing what teams will trade come deadline time.

No to Jagr, precisely what we don't need (Czerkawski headache on a grander scale?)

BTW, Rivet was one of the best players at the WC last year. He hasn't had a great start, but the smart money wouldn't be writing him off just yet.

Any deal where the Habs end up with Jaromir would only be palatable if the Caps pay half of Jagr's salary and take Audette off our hands!

Jagr would not play well here, he's letting the outside environment affect him on the ice... The media and fan pressure would be too much for him IMHO

And at he doesn't like Quebec, the province, at his draft year he stated that he would not play for the Nordiques, who had a chance to draft him. I think he made a commentary about the province at that time... i'm not sure

If the Caps are willing to pick up a large chunk of salary(40% or more) they are probably going to want some decent assets in return, cheap assets. You can forget about getting him for Rivet and Sundstrom, unless the Habs are willing to pick up around 75% of the remaining deal...
