I agree with everything explicity stated here; however, I disagree with the implication that the arbitrator did a "really poor job" in the Dumont decision.

And the fact that Buffalo walked away from the offer doesn't necessarily mean that the arbitrator messed up.

I agree, going in I thought Dumont deserved around 2.7 give or take. That's what he got. However Regier has a budget and he didn't like that number. If he was able to move Biron or sign Miller to a cheap-ish contract sooner I think he would have accepted it. Looking at their cap situation at around 39M, Dumont's award would have made it more difficult to sign Miller. Can't say I disagree with his choice.

This raises the question.

If someone like Eklund, who technically doesn't even exist, gets hit by a bus. Does it make a sound? More importantly, does anyone care?

The Predators forward corps is revamped, bigger, and much better than last year....and they will have Legwand back for the majority of the season. This is a very deadly team.

J.P. Dumont will be skating for the Nashville Predators this coming season.

Sources tell TSN that Dumont has agreed to a two-year contract worth $4.5 million. He will be paid $2 million the first year and $2.5 in the second.

The 28-year-old forward became an unrestricted free agent in early August when the Buffalo Sabres walked away from an arbitration ruling awarding him a one-year $2.9 million contract.

The Montreal native scored 20 goals and added 20 assists over 54 games with Buffalo last season. He has 121 goals and 256 points in 434 games over his career with Chicago and Buffalo.

The official announcement is expected this afternoon.

Hope Preds don't expect more then 20 goals,20 assists...decent forward but too inconsistent to be relied on.

I'm more than sure JP will net more than 40 points next season playing in the West provided he stays healthy.

40 pts in 54 games is not consistent?

Playing with Briere will get you those points...prior to Briere arriving his points declined in 3 straight seasons. He takes lazy penalties and is below average defensively, but yeah Dumont is consistent alright...at being inconsistent that is.

Sounds like it, Dumont isn't going to set the world on fire by himself (how many people are?) but he is a very solid pickup by my new favorite "deepest team up front."

Seriously. Dumont was solid during the season and a great help in the playoffs. Dont turn on him just because he isnt a Sabre anymore.

does this mean Radulov plays in the minors for another year? Is it worth it putting him on the 3rd line, when it would be better for his development to get first line minutes on the farm? This assuming if the Preds don't deal one of their top 6 forwards, such as Hartnell.

No, the Predators have said they'd run three scoring lines. We could see a third line of Hartnell-Legwand-Radulov

BTW, he's not our best forward now, he just adds to our depth.
