Not the best time to jab the Isles, not like they had anything to do with this.

Tragic. You drink and drive, or get in a car with someone who has been drinking, this is what happens. What a waste.

Some of our Slovak posters interpreted it in another thread.
Marcel Hanzal, 32, was driving and tested positive for alcohol.

Its such a same, that most of the time the moron who is drunk and drives isnt the one who dies. I'm sorry but I hope that he lives with the guilt for the rest of his life. I had a good freind of mine killed by a drunk driver, people really need to think twice before getting behind the wheel after "a few" drinks. RIP

It's very sad to hear that. Condolescence to his family. Why can't people just learn not to drive drunk? The Heatley case surely did't help there. I hope the Slovakian authorities are stricter to him than the American to Heatley

What is it with hockey players and cars? If you're a hockey player you'll either die of age or in a car accident, there's no other options.

Tragic.

Heatley comparisons are totally out of line.
Heatley wasn't drunk for starters.

Thank you (as well as that of 9/10's of the posters in this thread) for the decorum and common decency . It is appreciated.

WOW.

This is awful.

Terrible, terrible thing to happen -- especially to such a young man.

Man alive...

Stephan was not a scorer, he was a workhorse. Our playoff run in 04-05 he was our hardest worker and best player out there.Such a tragedy.
RIP Stephan.

In tuesday tragical automobile accident died fosterling of dukla trencin and former junior slovak representantive
STEFAN BLAHO. This information was brought by official web page of MsHK Zilina, where 21 years old winger, was on "test" (something like camp...). and in few days he had to sign up with Zilina new contract on new season.
Blaho was on ice in pre season match with Banska Bystrica and shot one goal which was last in his career....

Tragic accident happend short after midnight (tuesday/wednesday)
As Jana Balogova, Zilina's police department representative informed: 32 years old driver of mitsubishi pajero didn't handle his car and went to opposite direction and outside of road he turned over car. Co-driever Stefan Blaho didn't surrvive it...
driver had 0.71mg/l alcohol in breath == cca 1,5 pre mille (0.0000 is allowed ; 3 is deadly)

Driver was former Dukla Trencin and HKM Zvolen player Marcel Hanzal. 32 years old MTF was "famous" because of affair with marihuana.
He addmited it that he used marihuana and was punnished with 3 month distance from disciplinary commision off Pro-Hokej company

Stefan Blaho was drafted by NYI in 2003 in 4th round. yong player played in 2 junior world championships and played in OHL last seasons. Last season he played just for farm of Dukla Trencin (where he tried to sign up contract) - Povazska Bystrica where he scored 2 goals in 2 matches.
he played rest of season in overseas.
