Will Brodeur break every record in the book?

He appears to still have at least 5 or 6 good years left in him and is on pace to break Roy's win records and Sawchuk's long standing career shutout mark. He needs about 7 shutouts a year for next 5 years, which appears very feasible for him.

Will he break all the records? I think he will and I don't think anybody will catch him for a long time.

I don't know why you say this. There are plently of young goalies with the same level of talent as Broduer.... if one of them falls into a good team, while thy're still young, I wouldn't be suprised to see them up there, given the current state of Scoring in the NHL.

That said, I think Broduer will break 1 and 2.

The best young goalies tend to go to crappy teams who will struggle for at least 3 or 4 years. A goalie would have to start very young, play on a contender and get 60-70 starts a year right from the beginning of his career. I don't see contenders playing a 20-21 year old 60 or 70 games until he is at least in his mid 20's. It isn't impossible, but highly unlikely that anybody will get the situation that the Devils and Brodeur found themselves in in the early 90's. Once Brodeur gets these records, he may be very difficult to catch.

I dont see how Brodeur wont break #1. The Devils build from within and will always stay a great team.

I just voted for number 1. If he keeps putting up 40 win seasons he`ll catch Roy in no time. I don`t think he`ll ever catch Sawchuck for shutouts.

I agree. It will be very difficult to see a goalie break the records of Brodeur, Roy, or Sawchuk. Brodeur started to play early in a good team. He had good condition. I don't think Fleury, Miller, or Lehtonen will be able to break this records whereas they play for Pittsburgh, Buffalo...

Brodeur can catch a lot of records, nevertheless, I think it's still too early to say which ones. But I really think he can beat all of the three. I hope.

If Emery continues developing the way he is and the sens decide to part ways with Patrick Lalime, he could win 35-40 games a season for about a decade.

Good point. I still think the Sens will slowly bring him along and he won't be the number one until he's 25 or 26. But it is definetly a situation where the planets could align properly like it did for Brodeur and the Devils.
