Bud Holloway

Got another chance to see Holloway at the preseason tournament in Everett. T-birds won 6-3 and Bud had 1g 2a (possibly 1 more goal or assist as I missed the scoring on the last goal, but he was in front of the net when the puck went in).

Overall, he looked pretty good. On his first assist, he took the puck from the outside to the front of the net, goalie made a save and he grabbed his rebound and made a nifty behind the back pass back out in front for an easy tap in goal. On his goal, he basically crashed the net and got a rebound.

Not overly physical, but had a few nice hits. Looks like a pretty good skater and is more a north and south player. Drew a penalty when a Silvertips player was holding him....was funny because he shoved the guy to the ground while drawing the penalty. Also took a roughing penalty, but i didnt see what he did. Nothing fancy; just an up and down winger. Defensive game looks pretty good too. Hustles back and wasnt ever caught out of position.

He was the best T-birds player on the ice and he was used in all situations. Honestly, he looks like a solid junior player, but nothing stood out to make me think he would be anything more than a fringe nhl/ahl player. Hopefully he continues to improve and we'll see what happens.

Uh, dude... you do realize this was a PRESEASON game in a junior league, right? Let's calm down before we compare him to Bergeron.

In terms of sleeper, that's hard to say. Parse certainly comes across as a much bigger find at the moment than Holloway. I'm looking for Hogeboom to break out, myself.

I saw McLaren play and even though his team was horrrrrrible he did ok. I wouldn't put to much in this as this was mainly 16-17 year olds trying to make their teams. Most of the vets from all teams were in the stands. Hopefully he will get out of Portland as they are not very good (even with their vets) as it now stands.

Since I was hoping I'd find more news on Holloway for these preseason games, I figure I might as well post the article on the game the original poster referred to. Holloway ended up with 1 goal and 3 assists.
