Hamhuis

Any concern about him not re-signing yet? He will re-sign, right?

Given that the Tennessean this morning said that it's starting to look like he won't be in camp to start...maybe a little worried, now.

I am officially worried about Hamhuis now. I really never expected to see him in this type of situation since he seems to have the reputation of being a good kid and everything. IMO this is an example of a guy taking bad advice from his agent.

I gotta believe this is just his agent playing hard ball.

It seems to unlike Hamhius, then again, what do I know about Hamhuis other than he has rosy cheeks when he plays and can unleash an earth shaking hipcheck?!

Predators definitely have the upper hand here. It's not like they don't have enough defencemen. Anyone have an idea what their offer is?

I'm willing to place money that Hammer will be signed either today or tomorrow. Vokoun was definitely a bigger piece to the puzzle.

Maybe now that Clarke has signed Kesler to an offer sheet this opens up the possibility that a team like Edmonton might make a run at Hamhuis

I haven't been in Nashville from the beginning, but has anyone officially sat out? I know Leggy came close once, but was there ever anyone who didn't report to camp as expected.

Obviously, I'm not counting Arkipuff here, because we all knew he wasn't coming back.

And how many draft picks would we get for a player signed for over 2M?

Offer Sheet Compensation
660,000 of below None
660,000 to 1 mil Third Rounder
Over 1 mil to 2 mil Second Rounder
Over 2 mil to 3 mil First & Third Rounder
Over 3 mil to 4 mil First, Second & Third Rounder
Over 4 mil to 5 mil Two Firsts, Second & Third Rounder
Over 5 Mil Four First Rounders

Bolded is more than likely what we could get for Hamhuis ...
Underlined is what we're looking to sign Hamhuis for

a first and a third isn't nearly enough to make up for the hole that would be created by losing hamhuis.

Not to mention that it creates headaches. If this were to happen, all of a sudden Poile and company are forced to move a forward in a package probably with Parent or another D prospect to shore of the d line short term.

And the recent string of signings should say one thing, the Preds are making a run for the Cup sooner rather than later. So, the days of trading away promising players for prospects is over. In other words, I certainly think they would step up and match unless someone got ridiculous and offered Hammer in the 3 to 4 range...then I could see them start to think about plan B.

The only other scenario in which I could see them walk away from Hammer is if the Finnish Invasion (Ville and Mikho) are Zidlicky ready for the NHL this season. I don't think that's the case, but I guess we'll know more next week.

As an aside...wouldn't it be interesting to have half of our d corps from Finland??

then we'd have THREE defenseman telling the world that winning a gold member is their priority above a stanley cup, and making it clear that any injury incurred in procuring said medal will have been worth it...instead of just one

GONE! Send him packing. If he don't want to be here, package him up with Hartnell and send them on their way ASAP! Camp starts tomorrow. All not in camp, hit the damn road!

Is it that he doesn't want to play for Nashville? Because he's holding out for a better deal in the likes of Bouwmeester or close to it doesn't neccessarily mean he's got the hate on for Nashville. It's his agent's perception of his value vs. the Preds. From what I've read on here it sounds like a long-term deal could be worked if the price is right. Heck, even a one-year deal to give him another season to "prove himself", he isn't a UFA at the end of the year.

You wouldn't, by chance, be a Packer's fan would you?

That is the general reaction as soon as there is a hint of contract negotiation delays in Green Bay.
