Vokoun's health?

Sorry, but didn't see this posted elsewhere on the board.

Anybody have an updated on Vokoun's health situtation? Hadn't heard anything in a while and was hoping that a Pred fan could help me out. Thanks!

He's been cleared to resume full activity. As a matter of fact, he is currently participating in pre-preseason practices in Nashville with teammates.

The blood clots that were found were from an old childhood injury and were not recent. Tomas willl be back between the pipes for the Predators when the puck drops to open the season.

Look out league, Vokoun has something to prove.

as slake mentioned, it turned out that the clot wasn't actually a clot, but rather scar tissue from an accident in which he was burned by hot coffee when he was an infant, and needed a catheter in his inner thigh. They needed to see that blood thinners would have no effect on it for a couple of months...they then re-tested him in July at the Mayo clinic, and declared him all-clear. In other words...it was a false alarm, but you never went to mess around with something so potentailly serious. You err on the side of caution with that kind of thing, but Vokoun will not be limited by the scar tissue, and is 100 percent for the season.

my only concern remaining...

what was the cause of the back pain he was experiencing that they attributed to the clots?

If you remember, they couldn't find anything wrong with his back, either.

i don't think they couldn't find anything as much as they freaked out immediately upon finding the "clot." Vokoun said in later interviews that his back was just tweaked\strained. I don't think it's anything to worry about, and I remember at the time that they were taking it carefully with the playoffs coming, though that ended up not mattering.
