First game on the road Saturday against WBS; too bad it conflicts with the Caps home opener.

like the NHL, the AHL has unveiled a new version of its site

www.theAhl.com

The rosters are being posted now on theahl.com; as noted on other boards, interesting to note Helbling is not listed for the Bears; so an oversight? related to an assignment overseas? something else? He is still listed on the Bears site and I haven't seen any announcements.

Helbling still around according to Leone

Helbling (263) just edges over the vet limit of more than 260 games of NHL, AHL, IHL or European elite games.
Also finally have one of the lines. Giroux - Hendrix - Fehr

I hope the Bears do well this season...HOWEVA'...

Its sad that we actually have to follow what they do. We have so little to cheer for on the big club so we take sanctuary following the success of minor league.

Yes, Helbling still around according to the Bears, too, I guess a typo on the AHL site.

announcement related to opening night roster:

Goaltenders: Frederic Cassivi, Maxime Daigneault.

Defensemen: Trevor Byrne, Jamie Hunt, Tyler Sloan, Jeff Schultz, Lawrence
Nycholat, Sasha Pokulok, Dean Arsene, Timo Helbling, Deryk Engelland.

Forwards: Petr Taticek, Joey Tenute, Eric Fehr, Alexandre Giroux, Tomas
Fleischmann, Chris Bourque, Matt Hendricks, Dave Steckel, Chad Wiseman, Stephen Werner, Jonas Johansson, Louis Robitaille, Quintin Laing, Pete Vandermeer, Matt Stefanishion.

Leone provides great coverage of the Bears and the AHL.

It will be interesting to see how Boudreau manages the line-up related to the extra AHL vet. I assume Vandermeer will not be in the line-up every night. Injuries & recalls may eliminate the issue at some point, of course.

Since when is caring about our prospects a bad thing?

Should be interesting to see what happens if the Caps call 1 or 2 guys today.

Congrats to Nycholat!

also, "Dean Arsene, Dave Steckel, Alexandre Giroux and Quintin Laing have been named alternate captains. Like last year, the Bears will have designated home and road alternates, but Boudreau said he hasn't decided upon that rotation."

here's a piece about Cassivi from yesterday, by the other guy that covers the Bears, Dan S.

and since Dovgan and Machesney are in SC, here's a link to a link to an overview about Stingrays training camp starting
