Different move for Kevin.

IMO anyway, quite often Kevin's signings/trades leave me with the blahs. He usually makes deals that you need to think through for a bit, sometimes that you need to suspend your disbelief to get on board with.

This is different. Its a move the Oilers never make, but this time Lowe made the big move and there's no denying it makes sense.

Big bold move. A stop gap move that makes so much sense, that its denies effective criticism.

Nicely done, welcome to Edmonton Mr. Oates!!

Im not sure if this has ben mentioned yet, but Im gonna say it again if it has. Oates helps this team in so many ways, but most of all, he gave KLO back his hammer in any Mike Comrie deal, KLO has the upper hand now, something he gave up when Marty Reasoner crashed into the boards last Saturday.

Very loud. Everyone on all the Oilers' boards around seem to be happy with this move. Even fans from other teams are saying this is good for the Oilers. Great job by Lowe! He will be pumped after he gets his first standing ovation from the Oilers faithful.

It would be so loud, that you could go to an Eskimos Grey Cup win and swear there was nobody in the building!! I'll be screaming my lungs out if I'm at his first game (I hope I am!!)

I mean it's just the idea that little Edmonton did something in the "now" category and that they are serious when they say they want to win now too! It completely breaks the mold of ANYTHING the Oilers have ever done! NEVER have we signed a UFA with anywhere close to the profile as Oates.... I mean we got Staios that way, but back then he was a guy people looked at as a 6-7 Dman!!

I can't say in words how excited I am (my avatar doesn't even show enough emotion!)
