i hope nyr.com is right and they decided to show the first game. i dont care much for pre season, but it would be nice to be able to watch the first game.
Last year I didn't get any pre-season games on Center Ice. Btw, Center Ice renews automatically right?
At least on my cable system, there is no automatic renewal. Also, on TWCNY there is no center ice until Oct 1st--the channels are shared with baseball and so can't start until the regular season in baseball ends. It may be different on your system--try checking their website and/or Center Ice's site.
I think, for the first time in a long time, I will be missing every pre-season game this year due to school and scheduled events.
Wow.

Tonight's game at the Meadowlands is not being televised even by the Devils on FSNY.
Thursday's preseason rematch at the Garden will be on MSG (as you can see on the TV schedule).
While the New York Rangers official site shows tonight's game is on MSG, I highly doubt that is correct.
If I'm wrong, I won't mind. I also didn't see my Cablevision listing have the Rangers game on MSG's schedule.

I sent an email to the NYR site and as expected this was their response:
Last night on MSG sportsdesk they said that they would have highlights and postgameimmediately following the game...
What strikes me as a bit funny... If there are HIGHLIGHTS then there must be a CAMERA in the building, no? i'm sure itll be MSG's... hard to understand why it can't be televised, probably CAA's dumpy technical/arena crew doesnt have anything set up in time for a true telecast.
I guess itll prob be like the Baseball preseason game where you have one single angle camera somewhere in the building. If so i stil lwouldnt mind seeing it.
If i were a Devils fan (dear god, cannot imagine) i would be very upset that i can't see a home preseason game. Did they televise their first preseason game? If not thats really lame. Nice job getting your feeble fan base into the season, especially with a new arena coming.

Something tells me this is a Lou thing to try to increase ticket sales at CAA for a meaningless pre-season game...
it's Lou's decision whether or not to televise games. I assume that the Devils and Cablevision (through their affiliates) have a broadcast agreement in place that determines which games can be broadcast. It's very possible that Cablevision decided it wasn't economical to send a crew out there and televise the game.
