I know I may be bashed for this but if the above statement is true, Canadian juniors needs a management overhaul. They should be picking, developing the best players regardless of their citizenship. Canadian Juniors is already exclusively protected by the NHL by not allowing players below 20 to play in the AHL. They restrict the amount of "import" players each team can play. Shouldn't the best players be playing?

The whole reason behind this is for Team Canada's WJC Coaching staff to have the chance to evaluate there potential players. At the same time entertain the country with a great series with Russia. USA hockey is completly free to have a series of their own.

WHL released their roster today. Ryan Russell and Brodie Dupont both on it. Sauer like expected left off.

So we got:

Marc Andre Cliche
Ryan Hillier
Marc Staal
Tom Pyatt
Brodie Dupont
Ryan Russell

that made their respective league team...congrats to them

hahahaha.

so sauer and sanguinetti won't make they're ohl and whl teams because only canadian players will be selected and they won't make the us wjc because amercan hockey is biased against chl players (sanguinetti in particular.) they can't win.

Worth noting: Dubinsky and Matt Keith got into a fight with 1:34 remaining in the second period. He was only given a five minute major for fighting in the boxscore, but the broadcast says that he won't return for the rest of the game. I'm not sure if he's injured, or being punished, or what. The PA system at the Norfolk Scope is malfunctioning, so they haven't announced the penalties all night. I'm relying solely on what's in the boxscore. He may have been given a misconduct or something, it's purely speculation.

The radio broadcast specifically said that he would not play the third period.

That's all I can say. There's a possible injury to Wolf Pack center Brandon Dubinsky.

Great.........Even if he did recieve a misconduct he would have still started the 3rd period in the box. Please don't let this end up with him with a broken hand like Baranka last season.

That 'Pack lineup...

doesn't seem to pack a lot of punch offensively - especially on the wings.

If anybody here watches these games can you confirm that Immonen has been in a 'checking' role, i.e., going against top lines? I cannot recall what made me think that.

Hartford loses 3-1, though they do manage to score a goal and end their scoreless streak at 143:57.

Callahan 1 (Falardeau, Girardi) 18:54

The first four games he looked really good, but at the moment not a lot of the team is looking good. His skating has definitely improved, and he's using his body more than he did last year, that's for sure. He's not dominating by any means, but he's steadily improving.

There's not a lot he can do when no one on the team seems to be able to score. They've managed just four goals in their last four games, after scoring five in their first two.

Bad News

Ryan Russell will be out of the lineup for the Kootenay Ice for 4-6 weeks with a hand injury.

He was having a steller season so far with 10 goals and 8 assists in 12 games.

He will likely miss the Russia/Canada games.

Good News

Brodie Dupont is currently on a 9 game point scoring streak. He scored two 1st period goals tonight in a 3-0 win and was named the 1st star.

Hes got 7 goals, 7 assists in the last 9 games and has only been held off the scoresheet in 2 of his 15 total games played so far.

More Bad News

Dubinsky is out of the Wolf Pack lineup tonight. I didn't hear the pregame show, so I'm not sure why.

Tom Pyatt seems to be having a good season. 24 points in 14 games aint too shabby even if the competition isn't great.

The competition is average for a 19 year old. The only thing that would be better is obviously the AHL or a mens league overseas (which he would just get stuck playing 8 minutes on if he was on a team like that).

Pyatt is 2nd in the OHL in goals and that is huge for a player like him because he is such a great 2 way player to start with (Not just offense like some). He scored 24 goals last season in 59 games, he already has 14 in just 15 games, and he's almost got half as many points as he did last year already.

The kid plays the game at 110% every shift, hits, plays great at both ends and is very discipline. Like stated in the past on this board and on TSN...hes going to make the NHL and be a good player.

I think he's terrible. He should be in the ECHL.

That one's for FLY!

Did I see earlier in the thread that he's on the first line in Hartford now?

haha. The last to games it looks like that he was indeed moved to the top line. He is impressing the coaching staff from what i've heard.
